O'Hara looks like he may well be going to Wolves for around £5 million. Thoughts? On a side note, does a player who goes on loan take up a spot in our 25 man squad if he goes out on loan before the squad is announced? I.E of Keane goes off to QPR for a year does he take up a space? Cheers all
I always liked O'Hara but this move will be good for him. In answer to your question, we pick out 25 man squad and submit it to the Prem, so unless we decide to pick Keane in the squad then he won't take up a space. Edit: Re-read your question. We can use as many different players as we want until the transfer window closes and we have to submit the final squad.
That's what I thought, just wanted to clarify. Cheers though. On O'Hara, I think it's a real shame to let him go, but he will play every game for Wolves and can be a huge player for them and thats an opportunity he might be denied here, given our current situation.
Good move forthe bloke, all the best to him. Unfortunate for him, but he'd never break the first 11 with THudd, Modric and Sandro fighting for those two places in the middle. Just hope Jenas can move on too
It's even more of a shame to see him go considering that we may well see Jenas leave and Palacios is potentially going as well. That leaves us with just Thudd, Modric, and Sandro in the middle (until Harry brings in someone like Parker or Adam, the latter preferably IMHO). Trouble is, I'd rather have kept O'hara and gotten rid of Jenas and Palacios but hey, I don't write the rules and thats probably for the best! Just to point out as well that last time I checked this move has not been finalised or confirmed (according to the Wolves website contract talks are ongoing and advanced)
It's a good move for him, but it's a shame to see him go. He was a battler in the middle and had quite a sweet left foot on him. As has been said I would have preferred Jenas and Palacios go before he did as now we might have to keep one of them as cover for the 3 remaining mids. Crouch and Jenas next out the door please.
O'Hara is average, he will do well for a side battling relegation but not for a top 6 side like us. Plus he isn't a team player, cares too much about himself and doesn't even hide it. http://www.imscouting.com/global-ne...ham-I-want-Pompey-to-win-the-semi-final/6282/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...enham-I-m-big-fan-I-want-lose-Portsmouth.html From the 2nd article - He had the Wembley suit and had spent more than two weeks’ wages buying 40 tickets for friends and family but did not even make the bench. ‘It broke my heart,’ admits O’Hara. ‘Gus Poyet, who was the assistant manager, came up after and said I should go out celebrating with the lads but couldn’t. I went straight home with my Dad.
When O'Hara has come off the bench in the past, he's delivered and - most importantly - given the players a shot in the arm. He's the soprt of player that isn't a world beater, but can affect a game when he's introuced - in other words, a player we need more than some of the midfield deadwood that we've failed to move on for the past few transfer windows. A good move for him, given he's proven he can both contribute and slug it out when at Pompey and Wolves, but I'd rather he stayed.
