With Ryan being overlooked by England again, should he now play for Wales. In my opinion,he would walk into the side, and i think Wales will only improve with him in the team.

Could Ryan still play for Wales though guys? That sub appearance, does this not make him ineligible for another country now. Just asking as I'm not sure on the ruling etc.

WELCOME to the Stoke board "Best ever" <ok>

As far as I know you're not tied to one country until you've played a competitive game for them, so Ryan is still able to change allegiance, as his one appearance was in a friendly.

I think this is correct, not 100% on it though.

He could walk into the Wales side easy, I don't think he should though, I said in another thread, he's no worse than Cahill. Maybe if Hughes keeps us playing well, and Shawcross is performing he'll get considered for England again.

He had his chance to play for Wales and understandably turned us down, so I wouldn't expect Coleman to ask him again. He isn't 'good enough' to play for England because he plays for an 'unfashionable club' like Stoke. Its the same reason as Leon Britton. Pundits and the media talk about your midfield's (England) inability to hold the ball comfortably, and pass it comfortably under pressure etc, and yet this is Leon's best attribute on the pitch.

England will continue to struggle at major championships until they start looking outside the top 4-5 clubs for players. As one of you said, Shawcross is on par with Cahill (I'd say Shawcross is better), but because he doesn't play for one of the big clubs, he will continue to be ignored, whilst players like Zaha and Sterling gett called up after playing only a couple of games. The same can also be said for Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge <ok>
