I hope that Carroll comes back hungrier and a little tougher for working with Harry. I think he'll need it before he can really feature at our level, enough to improve him.

I agree about Dembele. For me he is similar to Paulinho. I don't wanna see them in the same starting 11. Same with Sandro and Capoue.

I really would like to see Holtby and Eriksen share the third midfield slot further up the pitch.

On the English spine idea, I agree to an extent. Walker, Defoe, Rose, Dawson as possible starters is a little thin. My only issue though is who should we have brought in? Or kept?

Caulker didn't fancy the rotation. Huiddlestone has proven not quite good enough. (Although I would have liked to see him start alongside Sandro or Capoue.)

Yep. I too forgot the wingers! Lennon and Townsend pretty much own that right side, until Lamela shows us different.

I think we are one of the best top six sides when it comes to having British players.

Again, it's hard to know where we'd go to improve that situation to be honest. AVB also said they are too expensive in comparison. I don't even know who's good enough to be honest.

From what little I've seen and heard, I also wonder whether Holtby may not prove to be better than Eriksen. He's a couple of years younger, his pedigree seems just as good. And I get the sense that Holtby never gets discouraged or overawed. Having watched from close range, I have to say for the first 10 minutes against Tbilisi, he was awful, embarrassingly bad, and yet kept demanding the ball and ended up having a brilliant game. That doesn't strike me as being something in Eriksen's repertoire.

true but I doubt any of them will stay in the team. Not that I don't rate them but its fairly obvious who's going to end up first choice.

Mourinho knows you need a strong British core, thats also why he wanted Rooney and knows how important Terry and lampard are, not just for ability but adding British qualities,

Anyway not something im deeply pissed off with, just a concern and I hope we can bring through some young players in the future.

Am pleased for him SC, as I think we can trust Redknapp to use him well as we know Arry loves a creative player. Good move also for his career, as if he helps Qpr gain promotion then he has the backup of moving there if our management aren't interested.

<ok>.

I would have preferred he stayed he with us as I can't help feeling our current midfield seem to have come off the same production line, whereas young Tom might have been the catalyst for opening up those teams that come to the Lane and park the bus.

But I agree he is in good hands with Harry. I think QPR pretty much clinched promotion yesterday with their signings of Carroll, Niko Kramjcar and Assou-Ekotto. Carroll is so skilful, he avoids the physical challenges of the championship, but with Scotty Patkwr and Joey Barton to protect him, I reckon he is destined for a great season.

Er......Scotty Parker is at Fulham, so won't offer much protection to our fella, but yeah to everything else. QPR look too strong for that league.

Very much a team for the future, the only problem with that is that we sell our best players to Real Madrid, so if say Eriksen is outstanding, then along will come Madrid with an offer. Having said that it's the same for the goons, if Marty Ozil is seriously outstanding how long will it be before Citeh or Barca offer to double his wages? It's the same for a great team like Ajax, something is seriously wrong there, they get the blood drained out of them every season.

The only solution I can see is a Euro Super League who share TV money equally and are limited on how much money rich benefactors can put in. There could be adjustments for national taxation systems to ensure equality. Either a Europe wide second division or a CL style competition could provide a promotion candidate and perhaps relegation play-offs could determine which team were relegated. The amount a team can pay in wages should be limited, so if you paid 5 of your players €25 M a year each the rest would have to put up with €5 M. It would mean the best players were shared equally and no team would have an unfair advantage. Clubs could be owned by fans and excess profit used to reduce the cost of tickets......I had a dream.....

I didn't vote in the poll because there is no-'the system is busted, it need fixing'.

I would have preferred that he stayed with us as well for exactly the same reason. However, I hope his season isn't too great or Madrid will be in for him before we even get 1 year out of him. The referees need to offer him reasonable protection but providing that happens he is far too good for that league. I never though I be glad to see Joey Barton on a football field but I am now.

The problem for Spurs' fans is that the team always seems to be in transition.

It's only 15 months since the 'Arry team which was 3rd for a big chunk of the season missed out on top four. That season, the team was built around the pace of Bale and Lennon on the flanks, Adebayor holding the ball up, vdV in the hole and scoring goals, Modric as playmaker and Parker shielding the back four which included Assou-Ekotto & Gallas with Friedel in goal. None of those 9 players are in the first team presently, although Lennon may feature at some point. You can't get a more drastic overhauling of a team in 15 months than that. I recognise that a lot of these changes have forced on Spurs - principally through key players choosing to leave, but whatever the cause, there has been a lot of upheaval.

There is no doubt Spurs have bought a number of high quality players, but most are not just new to the team, they are new to the PL. Many are younger players with potential rather than established performers over a period of time. How will they do individually and collectively as a team? How will they gel? There is a big squad - what is the best starting XI? Is AVB experienced enough and tactically astute enough to get the selections, formations, tactics etc right quickly?

I expect the players will be good enough from the start for Spurs to be top six, but is it realistic to expect the team to finish top four this season?

Can't think why. Might have something to do with teams tapping up our best players every year, though.
Still, I'm sure that UEFA will act on it...

On paper I'm happy but all players are unproven in PL. These are the signings I would make on football manager if that makes sense.

Initially very excited about Lamela but now more so on Eriksen after reading Roo's comments (I think it was) and seeing some clips on YouTube.

The guy looks class and there is a clip of him against Man Utd - where he did well, so is kind of used to playing against an English defence.

Haven't voted as I'm bang in the middle of maybe and yes.

Baldini certainly is a Badman.
Levy a Genius.
AVB is more of a Step-Daddy at the moment <laugh>.

I say this because I was very sceptical when he was appointed (you'd be cautious of your Mum's new fella), though he has started to impress me (in Daddy terms - he's bought me a lot of McD's) but there are still things that are just not quite up to certain "Standards" I have. If he gets the team to gel as well as I predict they can and finish in 4th or above, then I'll definitely class him as the Daddy! But if we don't, he'll be another useless twat that just shagged my Mum and ****ed off :D
