That would be silly if we don't bring anyone in. Kiyotake from Nurnberg is the latest rumour doing the rounds.
As a transfer taken in isolation, I would have no issues at all with us loaning Mayuka out, or selling him. But considering both the options we have in our squad, and the fact that Puncheon has gone, it would be a transfer which would surprise me, should someone not come in.
Well yes and no to someone else coming in. I'm pretty sure Mayuka's played less than 90 minutes in the league since Poch arrived so it's not like he leaves a huge hole to fill. Now we have Osvaldo a youngster (Isgrove say?) could presumably take that place in the squad. Having said that, I'd still like another wide option.
From Mayuka's official Facebook fan page: Dear Friends, Well some of you are very well informed! I just signed a year long loan deal with FC Sochaux in France 1st Division (Ligue 1). I will get game time there and hope score a few goals. And now, on my way to South Africa to join our National Team. Thanks for your support and talk to you soon!!!
Saints have sent a statement to the Press Association, informing them that we will not be signing any players today.
I'm gonna go hide under my duvet and hold my pillow over my head to try and not get over excited at the mere mention of Kiyotake.
We're already starting with very few options there, though, as evidenced by the fact that we've been playing central midfielders in wide positions and resorting to a formation in which we play no one at all wide. Isgrove may have a role to play, but that still leaves us with a very thin squad with few wide options. Edit: didn't see the above couple posts. Really perplexing...I loathe the diamond formation, but I suspect that we're going to see an awful lot of it now.
Just read you guys got screwed by the Bale transfer, you could have opted for 25% sale on fee but chose for 3 mil and a dodgy goalie instead
Well I agree we're thin out wide but that was already the case. Mayuka rarely gets on the pitch so him leaving doesn't really change things very much.
Really? We'd surely have heard about this if it was true, but it's not been mentioned at all, has it?
Yes, and as such, it's not the end of the world. It is just, as I say, a little surprising. All it will take is an injury (or suspension) or two, and our attacking options will be threadbare. Mayuka was on the bench vs WBA, was he not?
Where did you read that? On here a month ago when we discussed it in great detail? Laugh all you like, without that up-front payment we'd most probably not have a club at all, so frankly that's worth more than £20m to me.
