And old Sir Moanalot hasn't managed it after 25 years of trying.
Liverpool have had 2 managers that won it in their first season..It took Busby 23 years to win it.1945-1968,and it took Ferguson 13 years to win it.1986-1999.Joe ***an appointed in 1983,won it in 1984.Rafa Benitez appointed in 2004,won it in 2005.
He will also not equal Bob Paisleys achievement of winning European trophies 3 seasons running.1976,1977,1978.
I am going to crush your silly little points once and for all because i feel like it.
Take note scousers.
1985 -1990 English clubs banned from European football.
1986 - Alex Ferguson becomes man utd manager. Unable to compete in europe for the first 4 years.
1991 - Wins a european trophy at the first attempt. Coincidently the team he beat went on to win the CL the next season. He also won the Super Cup.
1999 - Wins first Champions League. 3 european titles in 9 years of being allowed to play in europe. Further hampered by the foreigner rule during part of this period.
2008 - wins 2nd Champions League title. 4 European trophies in 18 years of european competition.
So this idea of his record in europe being poor is just a myth. To him and his ridiculous standards it is poor but in general it is very good and when you consider the 5 year gap from europe and the fact he single handedly rebuilt Englands reputation in Europe it becomes all the more impressive.
As for Sir Matt.....well how you figure it took 25 years I dont know. Do you know when English clubs first competed in the European cup? factor in 1958 and the rebuilding period and 1968 becomes a bloody impressive achievement. Frankly most football fans from the time are in agreement we would of won it before then if not for the Munich air disaster.
So now you have been educated KPR best not to mention things you dont understand again.
