After another error at Huddersfield last night, time for a spell on the bench old son.

According to the PFA website this morning, the following experienced keepers are free agents currently looking for a Club...

    Lee Camp
    Maik Taylor
    Michel Kuipers
    Brian Jensen
    Steve Simonsen

Maik Taylor was on loan at the Wall at the end of last season wasn't he? He did OK by all accounts.

Trying to think what other errors he's done this season (not seen every game). And havent seen any of last night.

But Boro is the one I'm sure you're thinking of. For that one it was arguably Kermit's error, it was a poor header out where Hamer went for it.

If Ben called it he should have been allowed to get it and Kermit's fault, if he didn't call it yes his fault, I obviously wasn't in the 18 yard box so I can't say who called. And if Ben did call it he should have got it, BUT if he had gone for it and smashed through Kermit and injured him there would probably have been more of a backlash that he took out our best player than he got stick for the error.

Oh and if we were to sign one of those keepers it should be on a Pay-as-you-play deal because by all accounts we cant afford the wages for someone who will probably sit on the bench all season apart from 4 or 5 games.

Anyway this was probably a waste of time me saying this as I'm part of the goal keeper's union <cool>. I wouldn't drop him right now, at least wait for the window to end otherwise he may want to move elsewhere.

Is a 25-yard goal / a goal that goes in off a deflection regarded as a Goalkeeping error now?

    First goal v Bournemouth
Goal v Boro (can't believe people are defending that one...)
Wasn't at Barnsley so can't comment, but he let in two
    Second goal v Donny
First goal last night ( only seen it on TV)

Also getting on my nerves the way he constantly bitches, moans and chases after refs.

That I do agree with... The goal has been given, the players need to get on and concentrate on the match... If they wanna moan about the decision / who's fault it is, do it in the dressing room!!

Boro is poor communiction between Ben and Kermit that's why it's not all his fault.

Donny's 2nd, how is that his? Was shocking defending with 4 defenders around the guy who scores. Was a cut back goal, Hamer had no chance as he was defending his near post.

Morrison kicked the ball out of Hamer's hands in the six yard box. I was sitting right behind them. Morrison clearly bollocks Hamer for not giving the call. Ball came straight back in, and Donny scored.

    Communication error again.

Watching the replay Hamer is actually going where the ball would have gone if it wasn't a swimming pool. It stopped, he had to readjust, and yes it was then bad communiction. But it was a dog Sh!te clearance by Morro, in all fairness that's more Morro's fault than Bens there. If Hamer hadn't gone for the ball the clearance would have been just as poor still, he picked out the donny lad with precision.

Actually scratch the picking it out with precision bit, but it was still a shockingly bad clearance.

Yeah, he's been a decent number 1 and I feel far safer with him in Goal than I did with Button or Elliot. Hamer is prone to mistakes but every keeper is. I would sign an experienced keeper on a pay as you play deal but they would simply be there to warn Hamer he isn't undroppable. To be honest most of our team needs to buck up, no one has played well apart from Church but it would be unfair to pin a large amount on Hamer.

I think Hamer comes in for a bit too much stick at times. I believe that your right in saying he needs some stronger competition to keep him focused - when he is on his game, I truly believe he is a top, top keeper - Could go on to be better than Deano (as an all round keeper).

Chasing refs, screaming at defenders, blaming others - not necessarily a bad thing (shows he hates conceding)...... sounds like a certain Mr Schmeichel to me.

THIS <cheers> Big call there saying Deano, one of the best keepers I've ever seen at the valley, home shirt or away team.

If Hamer became half the keeper Mr Schmeichel was we have a jackpot!

    Casper Schmeichel?

Hamer needs somebody moaning at the Good Doctor saying he needs a turn...... can't see Pope doing that at present :(

I agree that the Deano shout is a big call.... but I honestly see it as possible - he needs to progress steadily. His distribution is 100's of times better than Deano, and is not scared (as we saw against Boro) to come off of his line - so why not.
Kiely was signed for £1million at the age of 29 with plenty of league games behind him. Hamer is 26. GKs traditionally play longer than other players, so in 14 years time why can he not be as good as Friedel, Schwarzer(sp) etc.

But, for this to happen, he needs guidance and competition from someone other than Pope and crucially NEEDS TO MAKE MISTAKES

Anybody know why Pope hasn't played in the League Cup? He was excellent for the under-21's last season, looked potentially better than Hamer. Phillips looks a good prospect too, but CP doesn't seem to have confidence in Pope, so it looks as though Hamer is there for the duration. Having off-loaded Button I can't see us signing another goalie.

Curbs all time No.1 error at Charlton in my opinion...falling out with Dean Kiely and then treating him badly.
I think the two of them just didn't get on.

Morrison needs to be dropped ahead of hamer. He's still our best centre back IMO- but Cort and DD deserve to be teamed together.

I'm against throwing pope in to a struggling side.

I noticed before the game he was moaning as usual, this time about the pitch. Definitely trying to get it called off. Selfish brat, with 16,000 fans in the ground.

Also thought he was at fault for at least one of their goals. Wouldn't mind seeing Alnwick get a go at QPR.
