    Good Morning All,

Boro have upped their offer to McCormack by £200,000. Even GFH will reject that. Surely???

Should GFH reject Boro at any price, or if they were to offer 3m, would you be tempted???

We have completed the signing of centre-half Scott Wootton on a three-year deal from Manchester United.

The 21-year-old, who has had two spells on loan at Peterborough United as well as stints with Tranmere Rovers and Nottingham Forest, appeared in the Champions League and Capital One Cup for the Red Devils last season.

"I'm delighted to have agreed the signing of Scott Wootton on a three-year deal," Sky Sports News quotes McDermott as saying.

"He's a player who has played in the Champions League and someone we feel will develop with us in the coming years.

"I want to say thanks for the owners in doing the deal and bringing another young player to help us go forward."

The former England Under-17 international becomes the fourth new arrival at Elland Road after Luke Murphy, Noel Hunt and Matt Smith.

Morning all. Great to see us actually signing 21 year olds from top pl clubs, even scum. Makes a pleasant change from loaning 30 something year olds in the dark days. At least if these guys Wootton and murphy don't work out, we'll be able to sell them on and recoup our money. If they work out, they could be an integral part of our own pl team in a couple of years maybe.
I'm not talking bout mc Cormack today except to say I'll be hugely impressed if he signs a new contract. It'll be like at last, Leeds giving the two fingers to all clubs snooping around our good uns and telling them to **** off

Spot on Eire. Let's hope he's not another Gimple. That said, he's ex Scum. So chances are, he'll be at least a reasonable acquisition. Next step, tell 'Boro to go forth and multiply as McCormack signs a 3 year extension. Step after that, Byram returns to first team action.

    Morning all by the way.

Morning all. I'm not going rant about signing a scum reject because I know I'll get the Giles/Strachan names thrown back at me, although I think they were a lot more experienced and talented before they joined us and they also left under a cloud and wanted to prove something to the scum.
Anyway I hope it works out for the player and club and I'm trusting Maccer with this signing, but if this lad does have a few howlers, how long will it take the Kop to get on his back.

Regarding Ross, BillysStatue made a good point and maybe it's me being a bit cynical, but seeing that his agent is a bit of a tosser, he could be telling Boro to keep upping their bids because we'll eventually cave in and he could be telling Ross to say the right things, play well and he can either get a new and improved contract extension or a bumper pay deal by moving to Boro. I'm not saying it's true. But nothing would surprise me.

Not long Shaks. But he has to have some honeymoon period. Bigger quest no. 1: Who drops to make way for him, Pearce or Lees? Question No. 2: Will Pearce or Peltier be moved on to reduce the squad when Byram returns (and assuming Wooten shows his class)

I agree Boggers, even I'll give him 2 games to prove himself....:emoticon-0105-wink: only messing, hope he's given a chance.
I like Lees, but he seems to be inconsistent and Pearse according to the supporters who have seen him live seems to be playing better, so I'd say drop Lees.

    Morning folks

Cant really say I know much about Wooten, you'd hope he will be decent enough at this level, whether there is room for progression though is something that does slightly concern me.

I will accept that its a new era at the scum now, but how many young players have the scum allowed to leave in recent years, that you would say have been successful at their new clubs.

Ben Foster and Kieran Richardson are probably the most prominent names that weren't established 1st team players, and they havent exactly set the world alight, and they are probably the most successful. Robbie Brady may be another but its a bit early to tell, but when you think of it there are not many non 1st team players (if any) that have left the scum where you'd think that was a mistake to have let them go.

Wish the lad well, dont have any problem about his previous club, other than the fact that they were prepared to let him leave.

    Morning all <ok>

I don't know much of anything about Wooton but I agree with Eire on this one. It's so refreshing to actually sign someone young who (hopefully!) has potential to gel in with the likes of Murphy and Byram and be here for a while to come yet. Finally some proper team building instead of short term signing journeymen and hoping for the best. Also nice that we beat other clubs for his signature!

As for Boggers questions. 1) At the minute I think I'd drop Lees if Wooton is ready for starting, 2) I wouldn't move either on. We needed a CB because we're dreadfully short in that area. If we sold Pearce for example, we'd be back to 2 CBs. With Lees, Pearce, Wooton and Peltier able to cover there at least we have some options if we get more injuries.

I think the pressure of being expected to perform every week is getting to lees and he could do with a bit of time out of the spotlight.

Cheers one and all. Seems as though Lees might benefit from some bench time.... if Wooten hits the ground running AND BMD agrees that Pearce has stepped up to the plate.

Anyone else having fun trying to listen to LUTV if you can't get to the game, or watch the highlights? Still haven't been able to see any higlights yet.

I know what you are saying, but I'm hoping it's more down to the fact that with FFP rules coming into play and with SCUM having opted to keep the other young lad at CB, it's just a case of trimming the squad down. I know he would be on peanuts there in comparison but if they have a lot of youth coming through they will only keep a handful and sell/release the rest. We had to pay a fee so the fact they didn't simply release him is a good sign.

He did captain their youth squad too and if BM thinks he's good enough then that's ok with me. I don't think BM is the type of guy to bring someone in just to make the numbers up <ok>

Ryan Shawcross at Stoke is one they let go.Now valued at around £20 million and would be playing for England now if he was at a more glamorous club.

I'll give you that Cheshire, thats one old red nose got wrong, unfortunately it's one of not very many.

As you say TOG, BM doesn't appear to be someone to bring in folk to make up the numbers, and I'm sure the lad will be decent enough at championship level, whether he can develop further is something we can hope for, but he's not someone I can get excited about. I'll keep my fingers crossed that I'm wrong :)

I'm used to us signing 35-year old journeymen, so not sure I can cope with kids who have a big future. Well done Brian, I'll go along with this one mate, even though he's not one of us YET. Red nose sent him to his sons club on loan twice, so must have something, but probably not enough to force his way into the scum side at the moment.

As far as Byram, Pearce and the others are concerned, I hark back to what our manager said to the media yesterday "Young Byram can play anywhere, he can play midfield, centre half absolutley anywhere" which says to me that he may end up being our right side midfielder who can cross a ball. Byram, Austin, Murphy and Ross in there could be the answer?
