Dai - afraid you're off the point here mate and talking rubbish about players outside the "selected squad" not getting first team games this season. Wake up Dai FFS - we're talking about the Capital One Cup here mate. Nothing to do with the selected 25 that only applies to Prem League games. Any registered player can be selected. To say you haven't got "fringe players" at Swansea who could be selected for the competition is bollucks. Don't know how many you have on your books and available for the C1 Cup, but it had better be more than more than a total 25 or you'd be in deep ****. I think we have 32 at the moment and still adding to that hopefully.
Sparky your absolutely right , we have , of course we have , the problem with this sort of competition especially in the earlier rounds, and again no disrespect to lower league players ,our game is that little bit quicker and no matter how well intentioned ( or not ) some mistimed tackles can be disastrous for a Prem/Championship player which can have a bearing on a teams performance further down the line. Can you imagine losing Bellamy , ( if malky actually risked him which I don't think he will ) .
Well all i can say is, i had a fantastic day out at Wembley for the CCF, I would go all out for either the CC or FA cups, its a route to Europe and it also gives the likes of Velonika et al to prove their worth.
Agree with that , had a great time in Malmo last week , to follow your team into and around Europe has got to be a fan's dream!
FFS! We are not good enough for European ventures yet. Focus should be completely on Premiership games. Good luck to swanc I hope you progress further.
you should have a minimum of 23 squad players. these are not fringe players at all they are part of the first team,, If you think that you will get by by playing the same players every game then you will burn them out. fringe players play in the reserve games as they are not part of the squad that has been submitted to the premiership...But should the team suffer a lot of injuries or whatever then the fringe players get drafted into the squad.....we will use squad players for whatever games we play and they don't feel like fringe players because they are not, they are first team squad players who has the same chance as everyone in the squad of being picked and that keeps them on their toes fighting to play the next game during training...fringe players shirk their training as they know they are down the pecking order..
So you wouldnt pick fringe players for the reserve team. So then why pick squad players for the Development Team - because you did against us (and lost)
Guys this is Dai your trying explain something to !!!!!! You could be here a while with this, where is DPJ when you need him ?
Presume we will field a team which should get us through to the next round! I personally would like us to have a decent cup run, winning builds confidence and the squad feels the benefits.
EB I know you can't educate the uneducatable (is that a word?) but in Dai's case we have to persist with our missionary work.
No point, Dai is and always has been an olive short of a Pizza, Of course we have fringe players, but no point telling Dai!..............
I think we have more than 32 Sparkey, but if you have that number, it would be good for your coaching staff to see how the fringe players do, with perhaps a sprinkling of a few from the Squad, it's good for the players, as training only goes so far, with fitness and competitive edge!...................
