http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...5751896?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Newcastle United reject an £11m bid from Arsenal for Yohan Cabaye, reports the Chronicle. United value Cabaye at £30m but the player has refused to comment on his future. Depending on how dsperate Wenger is, this could drag on until the last wee hours of transfer deadline. I hope not!
According to the Torygraph the bid was £12m http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...2m-transfer-bid-for-Newcastle-midfielder.html
Either way it looks well below their evaluation. Now anything we do in the market will be amplified a thousand times over. If we thought it was bad before, it could get a lot worse!
Thing with Newcastle though is we don't work like that. Liverpool bid 32m for Carroll, Ashley said 35m and all of it upfront or no deal. That's how hard he is to negotiate with. So if 25m is his price (it may be more, it may be less) then 25m is what you'll pay or there will be no deal. He even charged Liverpool one days interest on the 35m because they sent the payment late!
If we're gonna go as high as 30m for Cabaye I'd rather we went for Lars Bender. I'm not overly enthused by Cabaye but that's just my opinion....
Exactly, with Arteta and Ramsey fit, would we even want Cabaye playing? He would be on the fringes of the first team; a squad player who might be in the first 11 if he impressed. For that kind of player, 11 million is about right, though I accept he's worth a bit more.
In my opinion he's better than Arteta and Ramsey (simply don't rate him at all) but Wilshere and Cazorla are on a different planet compared to Cabaye. Doesn't make sense to me why you'd sign a player such as Cabaye when you essentially have four versions of the player already (the four mentioned above).
Cabaye is a good player and worth more than the money offered imo I think he's a better player than Ramsey at the moment.
I'm sure Newcastle would agree to something like 17-20M. Though if he is the only midfielder we are after, he is definitely not what we need. Our midfield would still be completely reliant on Arteta being fit if he is the only one we get.
Yohan Cabaye - 60 games - 10 goals - 11 assists Jack Wilshire - 61 games - 1 goals - 9 assists Think I know who I would rather play.
While we do overvalue every player at newcastle, I really don't think he'd have a problem getting into your first team. Ramsey is ****. I am a fan of arteta but hes slowing considerably with age. Wilshire is class but can he stay healthy? This deals never gonna happen anyway.
What's happened to Arsenal. A derisory bid made public for a player hours before his clubs first game of the season. No problem in the bid being made, but it could have been done on Tuesday morning, not today. I can see why your fans are turning against Wenger, he's fast losing his class and becoming crass.
Cabaye is a good player but I very much doubt he will make your team better. He is def better than Ramsey though. How he gets into your team regularly I'll never know, I never rated him at all. If we sell him for 15-20million you will be getting a better deal than us Newcastle fans because you can bet your arse Mike won't be putting any of that money back into the team.
To me it just smacks of "we have bid for players, but their valuations were too high as they knew we had money", get ready for £8 million bid for Bender.
On the button. Pointless buy really. He adds nothing more to our midfield and isn't good enough to get us any closer to the top. He won't displace Cazorla, Wilshere, Rosicky or Arteta should they all be fit. Even if we miraculously get Diaby fit, that's another player he would be behind. It would be neck and neck with Ramsey.
Ramsey was a superb player before his leg was shattered. Since then he has been working his way back slowly but surely. For example, he completed more passes than any other one player in the PL this weekend (So far).
