So your now coming around to my way of thinking then? its not about who the opposition are its about how WE also perform right ?

So as I said , we were very poor defensively which gifted utd 2 soft goals, we need to cut out simple errors and up our concentration levels at the back .

All the positive aspects of our play mean nothing if we don't defend correctly, we will come unstuck big time if this continues , forget 30m pound players beating us we are currently beating oourselves !

Im personally quite happy with how we looked, Bony looks top notch to me and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do against the mid table teams, There was good link up between him Michu and Hernandez. I thought we might get a sneaky win or draw but if I dont think our season depends on beating the likes of Man U or Tottenham etc. I can see September being a rough month but our season going strong overall.

You could argue that the 3rd and 4th goals were a result of us leaving more space because we were chasing a game due to stupid defensive errors.

nobody is arguing that the 3rd and 4th goals wernt great, they were . nobody is also arguing about them being gifted, they wernt ,they were good finishes, but the first 2 goals created the damage and created more space for utd to play in, we were pushing more players forward wernt we ?

Yes we defo have some tough early games. KJ , I think everyone knows Van persie is class what is your point ? his 3rd goal was total quality his first goal was a result of our mistake and not world class. <ok>

Goals 1, 3 and 4 were outstanding strikes. That the players were ALLOWED those strikes was piss poor defending.

Half and half. Take a look at that finish again. A really difficult ball to strike with accuracy and power.

But we're going around in circles. I reckon you're being overly harsh on our defenders whereas you think it's justified. My point is that they can get away with those errors against the likes of Stoke or Palace but not Man U. Let's agree to disagree, I'm sure it's not the first time. <laugh>

Not really, we didn't get away with poor defensive performances against teams like that last year did we ? Norwich home and away, reading home, villa home, stoke away, everton home, west ham away etc, etc. its more of a problem against teams of our equal usually !!

Anyway, hopefully its brings players ego's down a notch or two and everyone starts dealing in reality once again ,I include some of our posters in that too, as Laudrup said , we have have to invest just to stand still im thinking that laudrup is 100% spot on with that assement.

Onto the next game where we look for improvements <ok>

dont talk daft dragon . Man utd had to work very hard all game and they had a lucky break with two goals that on another day they would not get and that put a hell of a lot of pressure on us after that....We matched them all through the game from start to finish and our players and fans should be proud of that. our defence is not as good as theirs anyway but normally they are sound and they wont have to face many RVP' type players against other sides this season...If we had laid down and gifted them the win then fans can moan but we didn't ..we matched them and we matched them good too...I would like to see a couple of defenders drafted in before the window closes and im sure laudrup will be thinking the same.....COYS

I'd like to see one but really two new defenders and another striker.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is a lack of competition for places in the defence <ok>

I agree Norway, I think Ash for certain doesn't lose any sleep knowing his place in the team is guaranteed. Come to think of it I would say the only position where there is competition is left back. Ben knows if his game drops at all then Neil Taylor will get the shout.

Agree, as mentioned the only real competition is at left back with Davies & Taylor.Yes Amat is their for the two CB. I don't think Jazz can really challenge Rangel. I'd like to get at least another one or two CB come in.

There does become a political problem if we sign another centre half though and that's Gary monk being put out to pasture. Laudrup is being a bit careful ,maybe too careful to not throw away the old guard quickly,it can have an effect on team spirit,so maybe that is the thinking perhaps.

    As I typed earlier

    Rangel or jazz . Rangel
    Chico or amat . Chico
    Ash or monk . Ash
    Ben or Taylor. . ?

The defense are comfortable arnt they ?

I like Monk and will defend him to the hilt, he's one of us in my book. Would I play Monk? yes I would probably not against the big boys and he can still do a job for us. I just think we need someone that can give Chico and Ash something to think about. The players need to realise that their place shouldn't be taken for granted, if your not on form then you can loose your place even Ash.

yes we definitely need a couple of defenders just for competition sake because as been said ash don't have any to push him and i am against him being the captain. One other thing is not a criticism but when we play the bigger teams i much prefer to play tremmell in goal because of his size and weight, He is far better with crosses also imo..

Welbeck's little chip over Vorm, showed to me they were playing with us, and it all stemmed from us dropping our draws with those first two goals, there was never going to be a way back for little old Swansea after that, they're body language said it all in the end so did the 4-1 scoreline Dai!...............<ok>

we dont exactly have big defenders and that does cause us problems against a lot of teams. they are good on the floor but high balls even for vorm can be a problem....we cant blame them for that though as its the managers we have had at fault over the years. Tate was the tallest and he has done his bit, we really need a couple of 6 foot + defenders now or in the next window to stop losing high balls..
