Mark Bowen sounded much more down to earth than Pulis and Kemp did last year. It was almost as if he and I had watched the same match. Hopefully Hughes will play and drop people because of their performances; instead how high they scored in the last bleep test.
That's just about spot on. Must give a huge mention to Begovic - Possibly made the save of the season already, on the Henderson shot! WORLD CLASS keeper Good luck for the rest of the season, it was nice playing a Stoke side that wasn't a Pullis side!
Well said Ryan, I tried to rep you but the computer said no, i've got to spread it around before I can rep you again. (it's like the Mrs, always fecking remembers just what I don't want it too)
Rather than HUGHES OUT I think it should be more HUGE SHOUT for the first home game. Give the new manager some vocal support.
Well well well. For starters I did not want Hughes anywhere near Stoke and will not change my mind. Support Stoke...of course. Support Hughes and his hangers on...never. If that does not sit well with folk...tough. I'll just keep it to myself.
Biscan, Thanks for the comments. I thinke what you say is very well thought out and probably similar to most supporters who follow Stoke home and away. Potts I hope you saw enough to come down to West Ham ?
What a totally depressing comment to make after 1 game and that was away to Liverpool FFS!!! Hughes wouldn`t have been my first choice but any fair-minded person would give him a chance. I take more comfort from Tenterden and Potts ,true supporters, who unlike you or me,actually go to games and at least they were positive. I`ll await the undoubted abuse I`ll get for disagreeing with you.
Disagree away Joe, no abuse from me. I must slap myself on the wrist, stand on the naughty step, then award myself 500 lines: "I am not a true supporter" Feel better now Joe?
I didn't particularly want Hughes as manager but we've got him, my view is to try and make the best of things as we seem to be playing some football and at least give him a chance to screw up himself before I hang him. We are all entitled to our own views and I don't think anyone is less of a fan if their views differ from mine. As I said i'll give him a chance and reserve judgement for a while at least as I think both the manager and some of the players have something to prove in this new era.
Look; I will support Stoke, but NOT Hughes and gang. Believe it or not: it IS possible to do both. Don't worry, I will not mention him again. This is the same, non chance making and goal scoring team if last season. Crouch, Jones, Jerome and Walters are not premiership quality, oops sorry, we do have a couple of left backs. Pardon me for being underwhelmed
Nick My comments were not personal and I guess you know it! All oppinions are welcome and respected on here. I was on holiday when Hughes was appointed, if not I would have said the same thing. I don't, did not, never have wanted MH as our Manager. Like you I will support the team but will reserve judgement on the guy until he does something I don't like. One thing I did notice yesterday Nick. Hughes didn't wait until the last 10 mins before seeing that Pennant would make a difference and he did just that. Agreed Crouch and Co and not good enough individually nor collectively. I thought I heard MOTD say. " MH left the ground straight after the game to go and watch a player??? Let's see what happens before the end of the month. IF ONLY Walters would have given the ball to A N other we might be sitting with a pt and not didley squat. We rode our luck matie, more than once but, the we're signs that we could see what Hughes it trying to do with the team. And another point of note. During the 1st half, we we're singing. " We're Stoke City and we are passing the ball" which brought applause from Pool fans from my right in the stands. We don't have to like Hughes and to say I hated Pulis, the way we played was pathetic under his leadership. I don't hate MH, well not yet at least. Let's all calm down eh. K T F Guys and Biscan and excellent review of the game from a Liverpool fan. Good luck but, you did play well yesterday. GOD HELP any team/s at Anfield when you really get it right. You movement was excellent and Sturridge was immense. And yeah for me, Begovic is by a long way the BEST keeper in the Premier League, bar none. Good luck for the rest but you won't need it, apart from yesterday re Walters miss in the 89 min.
No offence taken Potts. Great post. OK - time to own up. The Hughes Out thread title was tongue in cheek!!! However...I claim the FIRST Hughes Out thread on ANY Stoke City forum. Fame at last
No worries Nick, I'm so glad I went to the game yesterday, although we did not really deserve a pt, we we're all gutted with Walters miss. And I'll be on the telly Monday night the last guy boarding our coach with the Stoke top on. Hope all is well your way Nicky.
I'm quite excited about our forward players, plenty of creativity and movement and Sturridge seems to have matured and found a place he can show his best. If Suarez get's his head down and rumours of Willian coming are true I'll be very happy. We're still weak at the back from crosses which you guys exploited well yesterday, but I'm hopeful Mignolet was just nervous which caused him to flap rather than it being a constant thing. Think Begovic was the best in the league last year and it was a toss up between him and Mignolet when heard we were after a new keeper. Do you reckon you'll be able to hold onto him this summer though? Arsenal have money to spend and seems like the obvious choice for me, or possibly even City with calamity Hart in goal, he'd be a huge improvement.
He has a point. Mark Hughes is in Paris to scout Mohammed Sissoko of PSG (a defensive mid that has only scored 7 goals in 427 appearances...) And he is letting everyone we need go elsewhere
I think we should give him until the end of the transfer window before anyone starts slating the bloke. Jesus weve only played one game, I was feeling upbeat until I came on this forum. Lets be honest no matter what Hughes does people will moan, the bloke cant win
