Seeing as you're obviously interested I'll share my view.

Henry came over swinging his dick & painted himself into a corner, Rodgers joined him in it when he said the player had to apologise before he could re-join the 'group'. Suarez saying "get ****ed" leaves them in limbo, who'll blink first? I doubt it'll be gnasher. It's comedy gold

<whistle>

I only judge them by the HIGH standards that the reputedly aspire to.

compared to the top clubs in europe they are awful.. compared to the top 2 club this season they will look average.

Last years league was an anomoly, not at all saying they would not win it anyway BUT the other sides were simply terrible. thats why both spend like water. arsenal never count such is the small ambition they have.

COmpared to lfc's squad which is not even top 4 of course utd have a quality squad... but they are not supposed to compete for 6th are they?

I have problems with this kind of comparison.

We've been predicting doom for them for years in PL: look at last 6 years in a league with two teams throwing money at players...

Everyone says all the other European teams are better: how's that proved? CL? Look at it since 2005. Barca just about pip it with the "best team in the world ever" and there are two teams winning it that were not the best in their league.

I agree this united team has been built by Fergie to give Moyes time. Hate saying it though but think about that long term view. It's a team that with no additions is gritty enough to beat anyone outside the top six & class enough to beat half in the top six. Fergie realised very quickly he wasn't winning more CL with the likes of Barca around and no 5 more years to build again. So he have his successor time.

Hate him or not. It's shrewd. Of course Moyes could **** it up but even that's considered. We've taken 20 years to be in real danger of never climbing back. They can afford 5.

Tobes let his anti Liverpool rhetoric blind him to logic unfortunately. Unless he has some crazy excuse about not being wrong technically, like maybe that Suarez hasn't blinked and in fact Rodgers came begging behind closed doors

Age is irrelevant if they are still able to perform. How old was Pirlo during the last international tournament? Plus, our very own Steven Gerrard is older than two of them, are you writing him off too? I could have sworn he is still seen as a key player <whistle>

Edit: I don't like any of the three you pointed out by the way but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be respected and acknowledged for their ability, irrelevant a club religion.

Now G you really are trying to take the piss! The age and vulnerability of collision/impact players is totally different and you know it. I would say the same thing if they played for Chelsea (and I do make the same comments about Terry!)

So what makes you think that after such a good season by two of the three (I won't count Vidic because of his injury issues) that they will be past it just three months later?

I'm not taking the piss at all, I'm deadly serious. Those three players are better than what we have. Would I chose any of them over what we have? Not at all because as you rightly said, they are all aging and aren't long term options. But there is no logical reason to claim other than them being very good players.

It's amazing just how much time and effort he puts into his anti-Liverpool efforts. Sad that he hasn't learnt to focus his attentions into something positive.

Those 3 players are yet another season older. Ferdinand has a chronic back condition and that is only going to get worse. Vidic is already being 'managed' to account for his injury. Evra had half a good season but is getting slower. You have to look at what is and not what has been.

The DR says...

I understand what you are saying (although I don't agree with the player ratings stuff but I'll leave that for another day) and I agree that they won't get top two this year, but those players aren't going to just forget how to play because a manager has left. Sure Fergie got the best out of them but I think the reason we haven't seen much transfer activity at Old Trafford is because there has already been a major shift without creating any more disturbance. They (Man Utd and Moyes) will be better than people are giving them credit for IMO

They might get top 2 though, they might win it for all I know I just really think that Fergie going will affect them big time. Will be nice to give it them bk, when we had Hodgson <shudder> they were taking the piss of give him more time etc. Its the best rivalry in the league <ok>

With Ferguson they had good decent players who'll go above and beyond call of duty and play better than what they're capable of

WITHOUT: I personally dont think it will happen

Moyes has done alright with EFC but this is such a huge job.........they have good players yes but like I say for a team who's been as successful as them its uninspiring

I understand what you are saying and I am looking at what is, however I fail to see how three players could completely deteriorate in three months.

As I said earlier in the thread, the lack of transfer activity will help Moyes because they players know the club, system and each other very well and they won't just forget everything that happened under Fergie. They won't be as bad as people think.

At the risk of sounding like our residential time traveller; surely Moyes was more qualified for the Man Utd job than Rodgers was for the Liverpool job and most of us back BR to do a good job?

Evra's a liability Vidic gets away with so many fouls it aint funny and Ferdie is a ball watcher

Yep, you're right, all three are **** and Man Utd just lucked out on all their trophy wins <laugh>

Anyway, bollox to this BS, I don't come on here to defend Man ****ing Utd <doh>

Or SAF is just a bloody good manager? If he'd had a few years with our squad I reckon we'd be up their challenging. United are nothing special. If they get top 2 this year ill apologise.

I have said that they won't get top two. Just don't think they are as bad as people make out. As good a manager as Fergie was (and he bloody was), the squad has to be up to scratch to do the business too.

Who said they were **** you ****pig

Ferdie is a known ball watcher when play is not right in front of him.

Vidic is a dirty bastard who gets away with murder, like falling in front of Kenwin Jones last season and getting a free for it, the handball v Arsenal, and master of pretending he was fouled when he's doing the fouling

Evra gets skint more times that sinead o'connor but gets bailed out by others.

No one said they were "****"

Yeah fair point well made

I thnk down to style of management though, Rodgers at Swansea had all the really good football stuff that everyone was bumming them for. Did Moyes at Everton? Utd play some amazing football, Moyes may be able to keep that going? Dont know..............The players dont forget how to kick a ball, course not, Its just different methods, different ways of managing.

I dont know, if they came 3 rd will the fans be happy? After everything gone before?

They'll always be strong of course, but SAF going is a major loss that who knows will lead where
