Paulinho is number 8, Roberto Soldado number 9, Etienne Capoue 15 and Nacer Chadli 21.
Other changes include Kyle Walker taking number 2, Lewis Holtby 14, Andros Townsend 17 and Tom Carroll 28.
Further numbers for the younger players will follow as and when they are selected for the First Team squad.
(name in capital letters represents what appear on the player's shirt)

1 Heurelho Da Silva Gomes - GOMES
    2 Kyle Walker - WALKER
    3 Danny Rose - ROSE
    4 Younes Kaboul - KABOUL
    5 Jan Vertonghen - VERTONGHEN
    6 Scott Parker - PARKER
    7 Aaron Lennon - LENNON
8 Jose Paulo Bezerra Maciel Jnr - PAULINHO
9 Roberto Soldado Rillo - SOLDADO
    10 Emmanuel Adebayor - ADEBAYOR
    11 Gareth Bale - BALE
    14 Lewis Holtby - HOLTBY
    15 Etienne Capoue - CAPOUE
    16 Kyle Naughton - NAUGHTON
    17 Andros Townsend - TOWNSEND
    18 Jermain Defoe - DEFOE
    19 Mousa Dembele - DEMBELE
    20 Michael Dawson - DAWSON
    21 Nacer Chadli - CHADLI
    22 Gylfi Sigurdsson - SIGURDSSON
    24 Brad Friedel - FRIEDEL
    25 Hugo Lloris - LLORIS
    28 Thomas Carroll - CARROLL
    29 Jake Livermore - LIVERMORE
    30 Sandro Cordeiro - SANDRO
    32 Benoit Assou-Ekotto - ASSOU-EKOTTO
    35 Ezekiel Fryers - FRYERS

Sandro still number 30... strange, maybe he likes it, should really take Parker's 6 seeing as he's off.

And Gomes is still number 1, presumably so he doesn't have to change his Twitter handle <laugh>

Bale retains 11. Stop the press hack journos, there's a story there.

Why? The only Sandro we have at the club is Sandro Raniere.

Strictly speaking, I think they're right. His name's Sandro Raniere Guimarães Cordeiro.
Not big on Portuguese naming customs though, so who knows?

In the case of Sandro, his naming convention is the same as...
    Roberto Carlos da Silva Rocha
Leandro Damiao da Silva dos Santos
    Julio Cesar Soares de Espindola
    David Luiz Moreira Marinho
    Daniel Alves da Silva
    Luiz Gustavo Dias

...whilst, in other cases, you have...
    Neymar da Silva Santos Junior
    Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima

    ...and then you have...
    Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva

    ...or...
    Thiago Emiliano da Silva

    He's Portuguese, not Brazilian.

Youth players get their numbers as and when they are called up according to the OS.

Presumably Sandro is happy with 30. Nice to see Carroll and Townsend get 'proper' numbers now, clearly we'll be seeing more of them in the coming season.

That's where this custom comes from, isn't it? Extremely similar if it's not.

Falque's 23. Probably on the way out, though. Good player but we simply have better options in his position.

    I looked it up...
It is quite common for a person to go by one of their surnames which is not the last one in order, especially if the latter is very common. For example, Ayrton Senna da Silva chose to be known just as Ayrton Senna because Silva is a very common surname.

Silva, Moreira and Dias (and one would have to presume Cordeiro) are common names, so they go by a different name to avoid being confused with half the population of Belo Horizonte.

I forget how old he is...Ceballos plays in the same position doesn't he? Probably the better prospect at this point

It'll be a cold day in hell when the media run an equally crap, but positive story about Bale & Spurs

The express ran a story earlier that he was going to Madrid because his tax disc was up for renewal and he didn't want to renew it.

Surely him getting a squad number is just as 'good' an indication that he's staying.

I can't find where I posted it, but I managed to predict the squad numbers for the new boys.

    Vlad wears 6
    Lamela 11
    Eriksen 23.

Well, I sort of guessed it. I stated that i hoped eriksen would be 23, but predicted 10. - Good enough <laugh>

For cup competitions vlad will wear 12 and lamela 33.

Right, 1 home shirt with Eriksen 23 it is!

Now to predict this weeks lottery numbers....
