It is was it is people. I'm Luis's biggest fan (as a footballer) and the captain has more-or-less stated our hopes depend on him. I very much expected that the Chelsea game was his last act for us, and if he stays one more season I expect the media to set up a ducking-stool for each game - Christ, did anyone read that gimp Patrick Collins on Sunday? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...orse-Luis-Suarez-summer--Patrick-Collins.html In essence, to even defend Luis when he's being kicked, stamped on and denied the clearest of penalties is not allowed because of his record. He trots out Brendan defending him over his booking at Sunderland (clear pen - O'shea brought him down and Twatkinson booked Luis!); daring to claim a pen at Norwich when he he was karate chopped in the neck five yards away from the ref; having the temerity to complain about Luis being stamped on by Huth because he did a comedy dive - which he readily admitted to later; and the old handball celebration where he kissed his wrist just to antagonise the Mansfield fans. Point is - Luis is going to need more support from us than he ever has, and if we're rewarding him with a new contract for not being able to keep his ****ing head when he KNOWS the whole country was just looking for something to burn him again.... You're good Luis, ****ing inspirational, but, and I appreciate I'm now giving in to what the Mail and the Sun especially have wanted ever since he ripped United a new one back in the spring of 2011, is it worth it for you or us? Let's hope were being conditioned for a late £35m bid from the continent.
Anyone else find it odd that every utterance about Suarez leaving was given the full treatment on the BBC sport website, with a comments section for all to have a go at us, and yet when he says he is staying it is hidden away on the daily transfers page without a mention on the front page? Paranoid - me?!?
Stories about players staying don't get the same interest. Only one set of fans will want to read it Edit: welcome to the site
I can just imagine Big Sam sitting on Suarez, like Mark from Peep Show does to the burglar, until he pens the long term contract.
So the thread's back #ontopic and Suarez is over in Japan, saying unclear things to the media and setting up Diego Forlan's goal, everything is right with the world.
Of course it was a generalisation Frank, you can't speak about a fanbase without being generalist, as you've proved with your reply.......... I've seen plenty on here defend him, albeit I've said before, that the reds on this site (in the main) tend to have a broader sense of perspective than the rawk's, ja's & some of the blerts on the football phone in's would have you believe is the consensus 'red view'.
So has the sale of Downing turned Suarez's head into now staying? I'm not too fussed about this apologise to the fans, he can do that buy scoring a shed load of goals when he's available. Us fans a fickle, as much as he may have pissed us off these last months, if he gets 20+ goals and gets us into CL then he's become a hero again. As long as his team mates accept him back into the group that's all that matters. If there is any animosity between them then that's when it can affect the teams performance in a bad way.
