I very much doubt that story, in fact I'm almost 99% sure it's not true. It's just people going "Hey Barca need a CB who are the best CBs at "lesser" clubs?"
Pace is good, but just as important, maybe more so in some cases, are discipline, organisation, awareness, etc. We can get away with a lot, because Hugo is so brilliant, mostly, at reading the game and reacting properly, but we did get caught out at times. You can have all the pace in the world, but when you play a suicide ball like Kyle did at Pool, it can turn a game, and massively affect your club's season, as happened at Anfield. Arsenal used to play the 'high line', admittedly in a different world tactically. Was Tony Adam fast, I don't recall it, but he was a brilliant defender.
Yeah I thought it was a good point too. Seems feasible in layman's terms. Hope that's how actual football finances work...
Really? I was hoping Levy had found a spare cheque book down the back of Joe's Sofa in Jamaica/Barbados/bahamas/wherever he lives delete as appropriate.....
We've had a new bumper kit deal injection of cash, and no doubt BT have had to give us something for using Bale in a Spurs shirt so far, enough there to buy one of the cheaper players plus Bentleys wages finally off the bill, so thats one self funded.
You think Spurs get money for that? I'd have thought that the deal with the EPL allows them to use any team's images as part of the deal. Would be interested to learn if that's wrong.
The Mirror seem to think that we've denied that there's been a bid for Vertonghen and other media believe that Luiz may put in a transfer request on Monday. The same paper also thinks that we've made a £15m bid for Pjanic. Huddlestone's being linked with a £5m move to either Hull or Sunderland. Utd are after Modric, according to the Guardian.
£27m for vert? We should bite their hand off...we could get a much needed midfielder or two with that amount
Co image rights was my thinking. Its a murky world that advertising malarky thats for sure. Without it, there's still 10m this year from UA, and HP have renewed, just saying we've had some commercial cash in of late and we've also underspent in previous windows.
...another midfielder. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...rs-tottenhams-miralem-pjanic-interest-2146526
I refuse to believe Pjanic rumours. How many times have we signed him now? Nearly as many as Damiao I think.
I'm still anxious re Capoue, and keep checking News Now for the 'official signing' to be announced. I'm really looking forward to seeing Soldado and Paulinho today, and hope we can win and stay injury-free.
In the 21st minute today, there will be applause for Espanyol's Daniel Jarque, four years since he passed away.
I believe that Damiao would have been done long ago if Internacional's demands had not have been so unreasonable. Let's face it, yes he's a Brazil international, but not a regular starter. If we paid £17mil or whatever it was for Paulinho, why should we pay £20-25mil for Damiao? If he was such a bargain, he would have been taken by now. Napoli backed out, reportedly, over the price being asked, also.
