What so a club that has managed to build a squad like ours having never played CL football will no be better off with a champions league campain under their belt........How do you work that one out then?

We will sell players which will help lower the wage bill and put extra money in the transfer kitty.

Just letting Keane, Bentley,Dos Santo,O'Hara,Palacios, woodgate, Hutton and Jenes go would reduce our wage bill big time and wouldnt even affect our first team sqaud.

Any players bought in would mean we could sell the players they are replacing like Crouch, Defoe and Gomes

Everyone knows we have far too many players.

In the long run Spurs are better off than Chelsea and City due to the Fair Play regulations (and if you disagree then look at how the clubs fared before Abramovich/Mansour)

Chelsea will need to replace their ageing squad and City will, if they want to buy the biggest names, have to get rid of players, and how many would they make a profit on?

Spurs only need a new striker in the short term and can use the Europa to advertise the reserves while having the best players try to get CL

Im a gunner in Scotland mate, got about 30p to my name! being an arsenal fan during the transfer window is soul destroying so you end up asking other teams who they might lose and get in return,

This is why assumptions are a dangerous thing, nah im english, highbury was the first ground i ever went too, havent looked back since, and if your talking geographically, then technically i should support Aberdeen, and i cant bring myself to do that, no disrespect to the club, used to go and watch the matches all the time but by god its fairly terrible football to sit through.

If I'm assuming anything, it's that there are few English people in Scotland

I'm half Scottish and have relatives in Larkhall which has a reputation as very Loyalist yet the recent elections for that area went in favour of the SNP

I think what Harry is trying to do by looking at players such as Gallas last summer, Neville, Adam etc in January and Friedel now is he is trying to build a consistent, solid, experienced core with proven Premier League credentials. There is an old saying which is that you cannot lose if the opposition don't score, which I have to say I do agree with.
However, you also cannot win if you don't score, which is exactly the situation we found ourselves in at the tail end of this season just gone. Too many draws cost us a top four finish. Remember when all we had to do was beat Blackpool to go third....

What this means is that obtaining players like Friedel on a free and looking at people like Neville etc are good moves, however unless we get 1, 2 or 3 top quality strikers that can score we will find ourselves in the same situation year on year, and without CL football, can anyone blame Bale, Modric etc for looking elsewhere???

For this reason, combining solid, dependable, cheap players like Friedel with top quality, proven players THAT WILL FIT INTO OUR TEAM SYSTEM is essential for us to build a team that does the routine things well and adds some flair for good measure!

I don't think the Adam bid had anything to do with buying experienced PL players or Harry as he would have said something before the last day of the window

I don't entirely trust Harry in the transfer market (this is not to repeat or encourage the nonsense about him bankrupting clubs) as his type of player is not the sort you want at an ambitious club looking to be successful in the long run (who would you rather have tried to sign in January, the Harry choice of Pienaar, Neville, Parker and Beckham or the striker option of Suarez)

It is for this reason that younger players not rated by Harry should not automatically be written off as rubbish (eg GDS and Taarabt. They may have issues but so do Defoe/Crouch/Keane)

Also, the improvement of Lennon's crossing is not due to Beckham, who is overrated.

Indeed, the SNP has gained considerable ground in areas where you would not expect them to, It will be interesting to see what the next few years hold in store for scotland.

I agree with everything you have said CG.

I agree that we do need striking options as this was our major downfall in not securing fourth this season, however, we also NEED to strengthen at the back if we are ever to achieve silverware and resident top four status; signing players such as Friedel can only help steady this ship.

There's a Scotsman in 10 Downing Street as there was before and before. The Scots seem to ignore that when they blame the English for all their ills. Anyway they have the world's best coach in their ranks but I don't know if Modric would be successful at Man U.
