Oh, of course I agree, I just thought Robbie seemed a bit quick to start defending Wenger there with what I considered to be rather a flawed argument.
I still think he probably was an Arsenal target until Shakhtar came and outbid them. Fits the Wenger mould and it being reported in almost every single paper does perhaps hint that enquiries were made by Arsenal. To be honest, I thought the deal was virtually done at one point hence why I thought he was one of their main targets. I think Sanogo will be a very good player in a few years to be fair. But if they do have more money at their disposal this year than I honestly can't see why they have yet to do more business this transfer window. Why didn't they end up with Higuian? I can't understand it, he will have fit into Arsenal like a glove and they decided against it for a couple of million pound. That sort of player could be the difference between Champions League football next year or not.
if we could get him for that it would still leave enough dosh for an AM, but if we splash the cash on Quags that might not be the case. So would be a good buy IMO if we purchased a AM as well.
Where have you been Munky? I've never made a secret of this, indeed I have often posted that Arsenal are my "second" team. I don't at all object to criticism where it's due, but a lot of it is rather mindless media-led getting on the Arsenal criticising bandwagon stuff. If Arsenal are a shambles, maybe we should try to be a bit shambolic too!
hmmmm, always a bit dodgy though, a 2nd team in the same division!, are you neutral when they play us?, mind you I might be adopting Wigan as my 2nd team but they are in the Championship and there are obvious GH reasons behind that!
Sorry mate, I totally must have missed all that as I didn't realise - my bad! For the record I actually don't agree with the "Arsenal are a shambles" line at all, they certainly don't have a perfect model but I wouldn't for a moment suggest that they are badly run so there's at least something we agree about (Actually I'm sure we agree on a great many things, far more than we disagree on I'd wager but it's just the contrary opinions that seem to be getting more airplay of late)
29 and I doubt it, it's his personality and those traits, or flaws, don't go away by maturing. He was like that when he was 27, 2 years won't make that big a difference.
Me too Tony - Wigan have definitely become my "second team" this season since Holty and Barny went there. My mate is a season holder at the DW and apparently Grant's already a hero up there.
I'll stick my neck out: if Arsenal manage to get Suarez they will win the League. You heard it here first!
No, when we play them I hope we win. But if we lose I can console myself with the thought that Arsenal are three points nearer to the Champions League!
Absolutely no chance mate, they'll need more than him to challenge for the crown. He's a great striker for sure, but he's no Messi, and I think even the great Lionel would struggle to bring the title to the Emirates in the current Arsenal squad.
Bookmark it Munky and we'll meet up again in June 2014. Of course, all bets will be off if Wenger doesn't get his man.
and last!! seriously, they won't sign suarez. do you honestly see them stumping up the £50m+ liverpool want? arsenal need a quality centre back, a quality holding player, a quality attacking midfielder and at least one quality striker before anyone can consider them a title threat. they would be far better advised spending all this wonga on four or five players around the £20m mark to strengthen all areas. suarez wasn't able to help liverpool anywhere near the top four. he can't even play for six games!! i reiterate my point - arsenal are a shambles in the transfer market.
This Mo bloke from Florence, we should stay well clear. People moan about the money Juve want for Quag, but look at the differences between the 2 and its not all down to just who can do what on the pitch. But even in that aspect Quag wins hands down! Hoping its another lazy rumour like the Maxi Lopez one!
i think the fact we've had hughton and mcnally travel to turin not once but twice suggests we are very interested in quagliarella. not sure about 'mo'
You may well be right Cove, but there are similar ego problems and bad behaviour with Toivonen and serious doubts about whether Quagliarella would make the transition to the PL from Italy. My point was that at £2m, the risks were lower for a fourth striker. I would love us to find another RvW or Fer, but there don't seem to be many like that out there! Who would you suggest?
. Easier than trying to pronounce his name! It does seem as if Juve are starting to get to the point where they need to sell to get on with there own business... Maybe DM is hoping they will cave in and accept our offer???
For 2 million pounds, get Labyad of Sporting Portugal. Also some issues in the attitude department but cheap as Sporting have to sell, and Labyad wants out. Roy Beerens at AZ Alkmaar may be a bit more expensive but a great winger with fantastic pace and technique for a team like Norwich. Bit inconsistent though.
