Too late Luis, your position in untenable now
Awwwwww we're going to take him back...
The line 'or when he scores a head' in that song has always bothered me, it don'ta makea no sense!
While I agree in general I think removing the fan equation altogether doesn't help either. You skipped the bit about HOW they became millionaires in the first place.
The answer to that is Sky TV mate.
Call it exploitation rather than blame if you will but for example Ronaldo and Beckhams fees over the years weren't solely for what they could do on the pitch it was what they could sell in the superstores or what people would buy because they were attached to it.
The image rights of 'brands' such as Beckham & Ronaldo are beyond the norm, but people have always bought football shirts, the fact that these millionaire players (or businesses on 2 legs....) agents & advisors thought they ought to have been getting a cut of it, is all that really changed.
And when that runs into millions that's when they demand millions. And when a player is worth millions its impossible to just dump a troublesome player which means there is no check on their behaviour. Which lead to demands for their rights as employees (not slaves) while still exploiting the fact they are still assets, objects to be owned which lead to the Bosman ruling....
The Bosman ruling was fundamentally flawed, as they are assets, they're purchased as assets, they're on the balance sheet as intangible assets, they're written down as assets, therefore by definition they are 'owned' as they're an asset of a business. The idea that an asset is time bound & can waltz off your balance sheet at the end of a defined period is one I will never quite accept........
But tell me if we all didn't buy the name with a shirt (rather than the shirt with a name) in our thousands, if we didn't buy the aftershaves etc etc do you think the clubs would value the assets as much money wise? Now as you say the CL etc is what the big sponsors pay millions for but again it's circular why? Because the CL has all those players that sell the shirts and aftershaves and they want to hang on the coat tails.
In the EPL that vast majority of clubs income is league success & TV revenue (which is essence are one & the same). The merchandising revenue is secondary & in most cases, of little consequence in the bigger picture. So I think that's a total red herring in the context of the EPL tbh.
But who buys it all? We do. We continue to idolise them but worse continue to prove to the cold hearted businessmen that we'll buy anything they're selling. But it is US that controls the buying. We do have a choice. It's us that makes the match day ticket the least important part of a clubs finances. Which yes fits into your reasonable dislike for the non local supporter. For many of them their only way to show their support, to prove their love for the club is to buy the merchandise. I'd suggest being told they're not real supporters doesn't help lol.
Does a Liverpool fan choose to buy a Liverpool shirt & then add Suarez name to it, or does he decide to buy a shirt that shows his support of Suarez????
Perfect example: it's been obvious to anyone that Suarez doesn't give a stuff about us even before the interview but he sulks into Gerard's testimonial and what does he get? Silence, boos? No he gets cheers, no response, no recognition of the fans? he gets more cheers....and why? Fear: the club will be less without him, translated? Individual above club.
It's got nothing to do with the individual & everything to do with what that individual brings to the party. Suarez is a key player for you & without him you're going to worse off than you are with him, therefore fans want him to stay, they show support when it's not 'earned', but not out of hero worship out of pure self interest.
Look at Gerrards interview the other day, in which he pleaded for Suarez to stay, why? Because he has a great friendship with the man? No, because he knows that without him the chances of you attaining CL (which is why he wants away) are even more remote. Again, pure self interest.
It's all about self interest, the club, the directors, the managers, the players, the agents & the media - pure unadulterated self interest & greed.
So no we aren't to blame for nasty business men and their cunning plans but we are to blame for falling for it.
Football was around way before the money men moved in. Football fans worshipped their idols from the terraces from the day the league started. Fans love great footballers, people have exploited that love & often blind faith. We've seen ticket prices spiral, but we still keep going, why? Because we love the game, we love out clubs, there's no real choice & yes we are without doubt being exploited these days - but to apportion the blame for that exploitation at the feet of the supporter is total & utter bollocks.
Awwwwww we're going to take him back...

If it's true he said that, it's never too late.
he has to score 40 goals as penance though

It should be something like
"When he scores a volley, or when he makes some smeg"

Agreed. He needs to go.It is too late in my eyes. He's done the dirty on us now and there is no turning back the clock. He has previous for this too. #onceacuntalwaysacunt ask RHC![]()
Agreed. He needs to go.
Even if not this summer, he has to play well for us to earn a move next summer or clubs won't be interested.

But what was he singing too? I think Prince Chraming or was it Another One Bites the Dust?
Impact subWhat would you do if he stays because no club makes the right offer when it gets to game 7 and his ban is over? Especially if Sturridge, Aspas and Coutinho are all doing their jobs.

If we don't get a sale this summer?
The only backtrack I hope the club will accept is an apology made in a televised press conference with the manager & team standing behind him. That apology names the fans, his team and manager.
He'll not mean it but forcing him to do it will hit his ego.
Then he can play for us until we can get rid, if not this summer, in January but it is getting rid.
It's purely a business transaction now but no need to make it easy for him.

Not sure Bolton could afford two world class signingsThink we can package him with the spearing deal?![]()
