    SIS,

Report was a 2-1 win for us but selection was youngsters, scorers Charlie Ward & a James Alabi penalty. Info from Sunday Star.

    SIS,

Full squad played today against Wrexham, we won 1-0 Walters with the goal, followed it on Stoke website on text, sounded like Pennant put some good crosses in.

So far so good then Jowler, it's looking okey dockey for the season IMO. Would also like to see Jerome and Kightley start up front vs Liverpool too.

    Potts,

Whoever is selected we need them to be busy and make things happen, Crouch doesn't do enough of that for me so I hope it ain't him.

I'm worried that Walters has featured so heavily throughout the pre season. No disrespect to him but we aint going to improve our woeful scoring record if we are relying on or going through him. We need a natural one touch goal scorer.

    Smithers,

No disagreement from me mate a little nippy striker could work really well for us this season.

    Hello StokieinSpain et al,

The following is, as you will note, a very brief newspaper report on the Macclesfield v Stoke U21 match that took place on Saturday 3rd Aug.

    Potters kids are spot on

A VERY young Stoke side beat Macclesfield 2-1 at Moss Rose in the Silkmen’s final friendly before their Conference campaign kicks off next weekend.

James Alabi scored the winning goal from the penalty spot

A Scott Kay long ball was headed past his own keeper by Jordan Keane to give Macclesfield a first-half lead.

But the visitors hit back with a Charlie Ward equaliser before James Alabi slotted in the winner from the penalty spot.
    Ends.

I went to this match and really enjoyed the end to end football, and although a little biased, I think that our young lads deserved the victory.
There were some quick and skilful players on both sides. I'm sorry that I cannot give you the names of the Stoke team, however, in my opinion a number of them showed good promise - I was impressed by a Stoke midfield player Charlie Ward (who, I was informed by some members of his family who sat near me, had recently joined us from Aston Villa), and James Alabi, a striker. Ironically these two lads were the goal scorers.
Having watched (on video) two of our first teams games in America, I would say that the U21's played a similiar style of football i.e. gradually moving the ball around until this build-up play presented them with an opportunity to attack the opposition.
I came away with the impression that what I'd seen bodes well for the future.

I now look forward to watching the first team play Genoa on Saturday.
    Up the Potters!
