I thought id seen on here before a few people mentioning that they worked on the rigs. I was after some advice on the best companies for recruitment in the industry.

Not in the oil industry but I do property maintence at the minute and i do all sorts of trades. Know all about hard graft and just thinking about change of direction and ive always fancied the rigs.

It's not impossible, but maybe an intermediate step will get you there (trust me on this one).

I think you will struggle to get a job offshore with no prior experience.
If you can get a job onshore with an oil and gas company, even for six months, an offshore job is far easier to get.

C.V. and experience is everything in this industry.

Yeah ive been doing some research into it and seen exactly that.. cv and experience and also who you know in a lot of cases has a massive bearing on even being able to get a foot in the door

always not what you know, fact, unless you do it the right way

Living up here i know quite a few guys who work offshore.

One guy works in the labs testing the quality of the water and stuff on the rigs and boats.

Another guy does quality control on the drilling and wells. He's off to turkey for a month to do some work over there.

Loads of retired folk as well. They just got into it because of where they are from. Best thing to do is get in touch with the companies from what I've heard. My mates gf works for a company that is responsible for sending the right staff out to the rigs and stuff and she said that, although they arent exactly crying out for jobs, there will always be people about.

we have a poster called the bigunmackem, otherwise known as superspam, wears his trunks outside of his spandex and everything
I have read the threads where he insults everyone and subsequently everyone takes the piss out of him.
I don't understand your comparison, unless you are suggesting I am him?
