Lovren already has the Saints-patented "I should have done better with that" hand-gesture-and-eye-roll down.
If this was a competitive match we would be tearing our hair out that we haven't scored! Typical Saints!
Bit unkind to the Celta support! I didn't see the silly foul some of you mentioned, but I think Chambers has looked pretty good. Wanyama's range of passing is impressive too.
They're getting down our right a lot but I'd put that down to lack of a relationship between the two DMs, Chambers and Rodriguez more than poor defending. I actually really like chambers looks decent in defence and already seems like more of a threat going forward that Shaw is, you can see his winger roots.
Well some recurring problems but only a friendly and some of our play really has been excellent, Chambers getting a little bit overwhelmed and leaving too much space in behind him, although to be fair to him he's been a bit isolated and been placed in a lot of 2-on-1s so only so much he can do. Wanyama excellent, Ramirez and Lovren very good, Shaw got forward very well at times, strikers not quite sharp enough but that can be forgiven in a friendly. Interested to see how many changes we make.
I tried to temper my excitement when we signed him to wait to see how he actually played, but watching these friendlies I have huge hopes for him this season, very impressive.
I think that Saints are benefiting from the level of seriousness that Celta have approached this game with. Provides a real work-out.
Gaston looks a new man this season, really going for it and putting himself about. I am actually quite impressed with Chambers, his first touch is a bit poor sometimes but he is working really hard and putting in some great crosses. Typical Saints really, lots of chances but can't finish.
Impressed by Wanyama, I'd seen some criticism of his range of passing before this game, but his passing has been great, he's been hitting some long passes that Danny Fox must dream about. He doesn't seem as available as Cork normally does, but we still seem to be dominating possession in the same way. Chambers has been beaten a few times, I think the wings are Celta Vigo's possible strong points though, and he isn't being backed up too much. I don't think he's anywhere near as good as Clyne yet, but he's young and has a lot of time to improve, and good backup for this season I believe.
