The strangest gamble starting to take shape on Brian Gubby's PAL OF THE CAT 40-1 5.35 Goodwood. Strange because its running from 5lb out of the handicap. However it does sport first time cheekpieces and a tongue tie so do they know something we don't?

    Morning all,

Thank you for the birthday messages yesterday, much appreciated. I had a good day out with a rib eye steak with bone marrow gravy to round off the day! Nice.

    Today I have backed a few -

Possol - 8/1 on nice mark, ran well last time and I think he will run a big race again. Nap.
    Hoof It/Rex Imperator - both 16/1
Royal Sky - 5/1 - non stayer last time, better trip today. Really like this one
Links Drive Lady - 14/1 - yard in form, horse has good claims. Pricewise seems to agree.

Good luck all, especially with those who support football league teams. Come on you blues!!

Can't believe the footy season is already upon us. Come on the Owls as usual, although I suspect swanny, stick et al might be the ones smiling this evening. I'm going into this season with very low expectations, that way I won't get disappointed <laugh>

Does anyone else think 33/1 is way too big for Memory Cloth in the 4 10 Doncaster?

World domination looks pretty big at 16s in the same race though

Most interesting race of the day is the 2.10 at Newton Abbot where John Ferguson runs Beach Fire for the first time over hurdles. The 2011 Wolferton Handicap winner was rated 107 on the flat and it will be interesting to see how he takes to hurdles. Stablemate and dual bumper winner Plain Sailing is preferred by Denis O'Regan but at around 3/1 I'll take Beachfire to score on his NH debut.

Thommo (close friend of the Fergusons) claims Plain sailing will win plain sailing style!

Impressive from Sound Reflection at Newmarket there. Travelled extremely well and quickened clear nicely when asked.

That is something that annoys me with racing coverage....channel 4 are covering newmarket and are on air 15 minutes before their first race but still dont show it and instead just show some people waffling on about todays racing - there is plenty of time for that. surely they should be trying to show as many races as they possibly can!
