While I see the logic I say it is still nonsense and I'll explain why. Arsenal win their first 3 or 4 games and positivity will be through the roof, then if they then start to drop points, then Wenger's transfer situation rears its ugly head and becomes the cause of the faltering title challenge and the negativity will surely follow soon after
What would be Wengers and the club's contribution to this negativity? When the season ended I never expected us to be linked with Rooney or Suarez, but the club created all the hype themselves, and will rightly look foolish if we don't improve the squad in the areas it needs improvement after all that.
At the Arsenal presser today Wenger said Verm would be out for a further 6 weeks. Monreal returning to training on Monday.
I see Leverkusen have signed Emre Can today. Maybe as a replacement for Bender? *watch this space* Also heard about Liverpool's bid for Diego Costa. Seems ridiculous, it would be a step down in his career just when he is entering his prime, also Atletico would be crazy to sell after losing Falcao. Unless they have a bid lined up for somebody like Jackson Martinez they are going to seriously weaken themselves. Don't see that transfer happening at all.
Nobody is sure at this point but those Spanish clubs are up to their balls in debt though I myself am not aware of Atletico's financial situation. There are some reports that the club is saying there has been no bid. Others saying there have been. Given the false crap about Higuain Suarez and others you'll forgive me for considering the media reports dubiously at this stage
We can hope right? I find it odd that he was the first player we actually bid for this window, you'd think Wenger would have tried to adress the striking issues first, then deal with DM. Then again though, Bender is a fantastic DM, so i could see why Wenger is so keen. Problem is more childish fans (such as scousers) would mock us mercilessly for having a player called Bender.
GeoffArsenal has said today that both Chamakh and Gervinho have left Arsenal. Fantastic news if true, I really didn't think we would get rid of either. Bendtner and Park next.
If those 2 are now gone i am 100% certain we will be bringing in another striker. Will it be Suarez? I hope so and we are obviously still in for him - but either way we will have a new striker comming into the club i'm sure.
Still don't think our striking issues are as dire as everybody is making out. Another midfielder and some kind of defender is for me a greater priority.
Im actually not so pleased to see Gervinho go, he's not great but I still think he does more on the left side than Chamberlain
I've been saying all along we have managed to do some very good business so far getting players off of the books. We have already freed up a huge amount of wages as well as spaces in the squad and with a couple more of the last deadwood being moved on, we will be a position to fill the squad with quality - no wasted spots. Which means we can afford to have more of a go in the transfer market as we can afford a flop or two
He's a decent squad player and provides depth (not a starter) but Oxo is young and Gna and Ryo can step up in his place
@krome - i agree, although he is highly inconsistent and definately a confidence player - Gervinho can come on and make things happen with his crazy bambi legs. For me Gervinho moving on would be the most clear sign of all that we have already lined up more than just Suarez to come in.
I had a lot of hope for Ryo but he doesn't seem to have gone anywhere in the last 2 years, not sure he'll be at Arsenal for much longer
Ryo was great in Holland and also great at Bolton - at Wigan he had a couple of injuries and didn't get game time and it was in general a poor loan move and stalled his progress. All 3 managers he worked under at those clubs have been very complimentary about both his ability and attitude though. In Holland he had good stats, was very exciting to watch and didnt look out of his depth at all. At Bolton he was creating more goal scoring opportunites than any other Bolton player when he played. I genuinely think it was just injuries and maybe not a great fit at Wigan which have held him slightly back. He is still very young, he is quick, skillfull and i still think he will make it at Arsenal even if its only as a squad player. I'd probably send him out on loan aain though to a premiership team if a loan can be aranged. Otherwise play him in every League Cup game and FA Cup depending on opposition.
