  2. Levy's inclination will be to not sell Bale, whether to Real or to anyone else. However, if Bale expresses a desire to leave the club then there is very little that Levy can do, especially given the sum of money involved.

The reports that are coming out of the Bernabau suggest that the two clubs are working together to "resolve" the problem. I take that to mean that Levy is putting it across to Real that we cannot simple let Bale go this season. There may be many reasons for this, but one of the main reasons would be that Bale and Spurs have committed themselves to certain advertising and image rights, and those contracts cannot simply be avoided without consequences. Another issue for Levy is that he appears to have sold the idea to Paulinho of joining Spurs on the basis of his prospect of linking up with Bale.

None of us know how the Bale "problem" with be "resolved," but one possibility is that Spurs keep the player for this season, but agree to sell him to Real at the end of the season, if Bale remains adamant about leaving. That way, the new Real president can tell his detractors, "Hey, I got our man, but I have to wait for next season, but don't worry, the player will still be only 25 years old," and Levy can meet the clubs contractual and other obligations regarding Bale.

It would be helpful, and more respectful to those on this board who want to properly discuss this topic in an adult fashion if those of a moronic disposition could please refrain from indulging in their juvenile and petty vendetta-games. It would also be extremely helpful if PESKIE could please be ejected from this board, as he adds absolutely nothing to it, other than continual disruption and disrespect.

Don't lie, you'd miss PISKIE and you know it.

You seriously think Levy can succeed where BARCELONA, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Juventus, Liverpool and Chelsea ALL failed? If Perez is determined to get Bale he will, history proves that.

  5. I don't expect Levy to succeed in keeping Bale any more than he succeeded in keeping Berbatov, Carrick or Rat-Boy.

If Bale wants to leave then a deal will have to be done, but I would certainly expect Levy to screw every penny he can out of Perez; that's what Levy is best at.

I'm still clinging to the hope that Bale will see out one more season with us. If he doesn't, then I hope that Levy manages to get a couple of decent players thrown in on top of as much cash as he can screw out of them.

Bale leaving isn't the end of the world. In fact, with the players we already have, and the others that will inevitably follow should Bale leave, we have a side that is more than capable of beating anyone in the EPL.

Why the volte face? On a number of occasions you have said: '"As a matter of principal (sic) Levy won't sell Bale to Real."

You are very fickle. I thought Cliff jones had assured you Bale was staying?

And what about your gloating on your comeback post after going into hiding after Bale choked fourth:

'Hey, guys! Remember I nailed my colours to the mast three seasons ago and said that Bale is going nowhere? Well, guess what? Looks like he's signing a new £130,00 per week contract to stay at Spurs!

Laugh at that, if you will.'

So now you are saying he is leaving.

For what it is worth I nailed my colours to the mast saying that Bale would stay one more season, but I could be wrong, he may go this summer.

This is actually very simple. If Bale wants to go and Real Madrid can afford £100m then he will probably be sold. In that event he won't sign a new contract and he'd be worth much less the following year so it would just about make sense for Spurs to cash in now. But Levy will drive a very hard bargain because it is also a good result if Bale stays - the decrease in his value will nearly be offset by the marketing opportunities and the possible increase in likelihood of CL qualification. Personally I doubt there is much difference in our squad quality with and without him, provided we can actually spend most of the cash.

  12. With Soldado, Paulinho and Chadli already added to our squad, we are considerably strengthened. If Bale leaves, it will have to be on the basis that Real exchange at least one player+cash with us, and it's likely to be that LB that we've already been chasing for a while, another quality player.

Yes, I have openly stated that Bale will be going nowhere, but who the hell, in all honesty, foresaw Real making a £100m+ bid? No team in the entire world, I don't care who they are, would turn down that kind of money for Bale.

Not that Real have actually made any bid, of course. <ok>

It's certainly true that we've strengthened - Paulinho and Soldado are major upgrades and Chadli is at least a squad improvement. We've also soon got Kaboul and Sandro back fit. If we either keep Bale or replace him with three more big signings we ought to be able to push on. Which of the points in the post by HIAG was deluded?

  18. No point trying to get any answers from these mugs, PS, as they are not interested in engaging us in any debate. Robbie and Ozzie are working to an agenda to get me kicked off this board (even though their elders and betters voted overwhelmingly that this board is all the better for having me as its guest). Their tactic is to attack anything I write in the hope that the disruption thereby caused will encourage their mods to kick me off the board, despite the democratic wishes of its members. Of course, if they carry on in this vein, the only sensible thing for the Chelsea mods to do will be to ban Robbie and Ozzie, not only for their continued disruption, but also for their highly anti-social behaviour.

If you keep Bale I agree with you 100%, but if you lose him it's one step forward and 2 backwards for me.
