Spurs Soldado deal being held up by agent!! There's a surprise.

The thing with agents holding things up - as annoying as it is - is that that moment of a transfer is literally the only time in, say, a four-year time period on average (per client) that agents actually do any work. I figure that it is some kind of demonstration on behalf of their client that they are hard working and worth all the cash they get for sitting on their asses making phonecalls for the rest of a contract’s length. In that sense, it is a completely understandable and rational thing for them to do, whether or not we or even the player themselves actually like it.

What about sponsorship deals, advertising contracts and image rights? Some agents even basically act as a PA to their players sorting out holidays, homes and a lot of their life. Agents get a lot of stick for their line of work and the money they make, but they do do some things. Whether the money they receive is justified for the service they provide is a whole other story.

So Spurs have Soldado wrapped up as per a medical, gives them a very good team but there is obviously the hanging question mark of Bale.

That's more behind the scenes - this is their chance to be seen to be useful by the public... who can then hate them even more than before!

I am amazed clubs aren't queing up for Hammond. Is it because if wages?

You'd have to assume so, we may slightly overrate some of our L1 and Championship heroes due to nostalgia and a bit of bias, but you'd think some of them would be in higher demand than they are so the obvious conclusion is wages. Their wages are probably a drop in the pond by PL standards but by this stage they would probably make them amongst the highest paid at mid-level Championship clubs.

They're asking for 100m plus Morata according to reports. Not a bad deal if they can swing that!

I've seen about 50 different prices and money+player combinations by this point, well into the stage of the saga where the media just start making **** up. Also whenever a player exchange is involved I'm always sceptical, great in Fifa or FM, but largely hypothetical and imaginary at the top level of football. I've mentioned this in the past but I always struggle to think of more examples than you can count on one hand. At this stage I have almost 0% interest in any news reports on Bale, Suarez or Rooney.

Some Spanish website (AS.com) claiming the Bale deal is done, £105 million. Will be announced after Spurs confirm 2 more signings

Yeah, me neither
