For me berba is the better player...hes better then roo and chico but the problem with him is confidence.If the manager has no confidence in him as well as the fans then he wont play well...berba has huge ability..much more then rooney and chcio.Look at him at spurs..ask all the spurs fans and they would tell you he would be one of the best players to play for them.Great ability just needs confidence.

Rooney on the other hand is a good player but seriously overrated...he loses the ball way too much..

If we play and make a team around berbatov i seriously believe we will do much better in europe...

The problem with taking 6 seconds to do anything is that it slows the game down too much. This might be ok in Europe but not the EPL with it's higher pace.

Also let's not forget that Berbatov may have scored 22 goals but 5 game at home to Blackburn and he got hat tricks at home to Liverpool and Birmingham.

Hasn't scored in nearly 3 years in Europe. That is appalling. I don't care if people say there's more to scoring for a forward. Strikers are still judged on their goals first and foremost and to that end, Berbatov did better in the league last season (even if most goals did come in a few games). If he can do that more often, then he'll be worth building a team around but let's face it, he's 31 and won't improve. He's never going to have the mentality or speed of thought to build a team around.

Hes not as slow as you make him out to be mate...plus to say he slows the game down etc and that you would be upset if we built the team around him just goes to show how much youve learnt from the cl final...the way we play now is a joke..no technical ability just big sam football.Plus to say berba doesnt score much is really unfair given that his natural position is as a player who plays off the striker...firget that even playing upfront he has scored 21 goals...and before you say half his goals came from 2-3 games...how often and how consistently has fergie played him??To keep on going on about his european record is absurd tbh...hes hardly ever started(11 since hes started for us )you think that he changes his form when he hears the cl music??...

TBH if fergie does not introduce technical football and skill into our game we wont make it far in the cl...
 
At 31 he's too old to have the team built around him. Fergie may need to introduce technical football into his game, but not with Berbatov.

Berbatov is not 31!!! He is 30 and before you start blabbering about other things WAKE up. We need huge changes in midfield and attack and I agree our team should not be based around Berbatov, he would be nice to have in the squad and he seems happy playing at Utd. However, I would like us to sign a pacy skillful striker with a great overall game like Benzema, Higuain, Neymar, Aguero, Pato etc because Hernandez is a great finisher and has very good movement but his game is too limited and won't improve much as he has not got that natural ability. He again is a good player to have in the squad but our future should not be based on him in my opinion as Man Utd are meant to have great footballers not just limited footballers <ok>. Just look at Barca for example and yes that is the team Ferguson looks up to, he even stated he would of left Utd if he was given the chance to manage them. Look at their forwards, they all have a great overall game and interchange well, Hernandez for me is too static and limited but again he would make a great super sub.

We were outclassed by arguably the greatest side of all time. If you seriously think starting Berbatov in either of them would have made a difference, you are deluding yourself.
 
Bloodred, we would have lost those games regardless but there is no doubt in my mind Berbatov and Nani would have done much better than Hernandez and Valencia in the final, simply because they did nothing. Valencia hacked away and was poor and Hernandez was hiding somewhere, did he touch the ball?
 
I like how some people seem to regard the fact that they didn't beat Barca a shocking result, and that they need a radical overhaul with a complete change in tactics/players...

You won the PL, you didn't beat the current best team in the world. Calm down, try again.

Berbatov would have been just as anonymous as Hernandez was.

I agree Valencia was dire. Nani probably would have done better, but hey, hindsight's a wonderful thing. Most if not all United fans would have put Valencia on the right.

Ofcourse berba would have made a difference and no he wouldnt have been as anonymous as chico as berba actually holds the ball and can link up...thats a fact..plus having 2 totally different players on the pitch could have made a difference...im not saying we would have won tho im just saying...

I won't argue with any of that and tbh I did feel before kick off that Hernandez would struggle because he does have limitations as a player overall unfortunately. Berbatov would almost certainly have had more involvement and contributed more.

I actually think 4-5-1 might have been the better way to go though as our midfield was always going to struggle to compete with Barca's. I don't particularly like it when we have to play that formation as it isolates the forward, but some times needs must.

Regardless, I feel that we wouldn't have been strong enough on the day. Barca were fantastic and that's the level United now must aspire to. Not sure how you can emulate them though without actually signing their players, which isn't going to happen.
 
Against Barca you simply can't attack them!!! You have to defend with 10 men and hope you score a lucky goal.

We were not lucky to win the Final against Chelsea what so ever. And we were outplayed by Barca, not humiliated. Being humiliated is losing 4 or 5 nill, so stop being a sensationalist.

Exactly...im not trying to gloat or anything but thats what i was saying before the game.I was emphasising on the point that we shouldnt play chico...and that a 4-5-1 would be the best formation against a barca side who are quite frankly one of the best attacking side in football history.I mean fergie should have known this when he saw how chico played against arsenal(when we lost 1-0.)He was invisible as he was against barca and was caught offside constantly,just like he was against Barca.

However i think if the tactics were right we could have won.Put it this way imo had Jose managed us on that day then we would have had a better chance of winning.

Anyway i agree that we must change our philosophy.The way we play football should be changed.We must play technical and skillful football.
