Even though they said they were going to sign him at the end of the season, Gillingham still haven't signed Forecast.

    He remains a free agent.

Maybe he should try his luck in the blue half of Hampshire. They must be desperate for players. <whistle>

Forecast must have had some basic talent to have even got to Spurs in the first place...failed to build on it...just coasted since.

Surprised Spurs are selling him. Wonder what his reception will be like at the Liberty!

    Cork £700k, Clyne £2.5m...

Nationality has nothing to do with it. They were expensive simply because their current clubs didn't want to sell them.

Bale at £12m is a puzzling inclusion in that list though, not least because he only cost them £7m.

Sorry didn't mean to include Bale in there at 12m. I was trying to demonstrate that younger English players have had higher transfer fees in the recent past, not all of course, but certainly there has been a number of high profile players who have moved for high prices.

Absolutely, but that's because they were bought by clubs with a lot of money from clubs who didn't want to sell them. The fact they are English has little to do with it. You could include Torres, Ronaldo, etc in that list as well.

I would have thought accusations of English players being overpriced would hush a little while we're rumoured to be paying £22m for Leandro Damiao...

Bent to Fulham is the rumour. Looks like their Osvaldo bid is off.

Walcott, Chamberlain and Bale will all be looked back on as absolute bargains. £15.5m for Carroll is pretty fair, and so is £12m for Barry.

English players being overpriced is a bunch of nonsense.

Each has their own opinion, and that's fair enough. I think Carroll is a poor footballer and Barry is useless. Each to their own.

So was Torres. Doesn't mean he wasn't overpriced.

Barry is far from useless. He is a good player, unless he's in his own penalty area that is.

In your opinion. In mine, it is embarrassing to think he played so many games for England.

Carroll is a poor footballer, but he still scores goals when his team plays a certain way. He'll get enough to justify that price tag. I don't like Barry either and I wish he wouldn't play for England, but he has been good enough to play pretty regularly for City and he was clearly the best Villa had when he was there.

And so many games in an important role for one of the best sides in the world for several years. If that doesn't prove he's ****, I don't know what does.
