“Robert Huth is ready for a return to London in a £2million deal with Fulham.

Centre-half Huth has suffered an injury-hit time at Middlesbrough since his switch from Chelsea. The Teessiders will let Germany star Huth go as they cut their wages bill for the Championship - while Fulham want him in case Brede Hangeland moves on.

The Cottagers first wanted Hull's Michael Turner, but the defender was not keen. And Juventus midfield ace Christian Poulsen has also rejected a loan move to Fulham. His agent Jorn Bonnesen said: "We only want a permanent deal."

This was when the Arsenal were chasing Brede. Fortunately he stayed and Huth went elsewhere, and to spoil what was a promising career. Yes, to Stoke who paid a fee of £5m.
