Good deal this. Paying Celtic £2.5m to take him off our hands is a bargain. :)

Cest was restrained in his comments about this potato-headed dickhead IMHO...

like i said its a perfect move for him and a good deal for safc , does not alter the fact ,he pulled around a string of results before he jawed
off and got sucked into stupidity about things he should not have got involved in,

no difference to gazza playing the pipes , stupidity.

all i say is remember him for turning the season for us if not bollocks to you

When he first played for us, I thought (hoped) we had pulled off a blinding transfer, but unfortunately, he didn't flourish like I had hoped. Sell and make a few quid and don't look back.

Yeah, he was instrumental in turning our season around, but was not alone in that, and was also rewarded with a new contract

From there it all seemed to go to hell in a basket for the lad. His performances dipped, and the twitter nonsense kicked in

Footballers receive a lot of money for doing well. They do not deserve a life time of gratitude and reward

Actually there is a lot of difference. James grew up with the constant background of intimidation, unionist supremacy and general lack of local government investment due to the area's nationalist majority, things that come with the territory of being a catholic brought up in Derry. You're going to have a hard time finding Catholics that grew up in these areas of deliberate deprivation that wont be bitter. Gazza has no ties or experiences with either side of the NI divide.

There's a fair bit of barely concealed bigotry on this thread. Fair enough if you dont rate him as a footballer but there are quite a few more sinister agendas revealing themselves inn this thread at the same time

or being lambasted for being who you are as the result of being thrust into the cauldron of pro football, points taken from you and if he does get sold to celtic a dream move for him.

    I'd sell McClean

Not because of his refusal to wear a poppy or his support of the IRA.

    Because he's not very good.

He always worked extremely hard despite stupid fans booing him, credit to him for that.

I have no grudge against him whatsoever and I hope he has a successful career away from us

No no, not aimed at you. I wanted to point out how that comparison was inaccurate, however the rest of it is directed at other "usual suspects" who have had previous, and who I have had run ins with in the past, on the same subject
