Jason has been appointed because it is a cheap option. If our finances were OK we would have gone for someone more experienced and better qualified, giving Jason more time to learn the job, nor would he jump straight from u16s to u21s. It would be normal to take the u18s en route. Fortunately he should have an easy ride for two years. The u21s won their league last year when nearly all u19s so they should be notching up double figure wins this year. He just needs to provide continuity, as mentioned. Who will now take the u16s? Andy Hughes looks a great choice but at present he is earning a first team spot on merit and relishing still playing after suspecting career was over.
I'm pretty pleased that we've chosen the cheap option. As they say where I originate from, "Mony a mickle maks a muckle"
And I always say "You get what you pay for". Actually I don't always say that, but I felt it incumbent to make some smartass remark and it could be true in this case.
