No to Lambert for me. We're not selling Holt for £2m and buying his equal for £5mill.

I actually thought he was younger to be honest. 5 mil probably would be too much. I wouldn't be annoyed if we did sign him though.

What I like about this is the clear signal we are sending out that we aren't going to be messed around. We've weighed it up, decided how far we'll go, and that's it. We haven't thrown any toys out of the pram, or made any pompous statements, just put our cards on the table. Seems to me that has been the club's approach to all the transfer business we've conducted so far and McNally and Co. should be applauded for it. <ok>

lol no need to get that angry about it.

As for Lambert, I'd have him here. Similar to Holt and be a like to like replacement, true if he came here we may as well have kept Holt, but maybe he didn't want to stay with us.

Holty blatantly wanted away, I thought we'd all accepted that by now?

Obviously I don't know for sure, and I have no contacts at all within the club, but my guess is that he signed the new contract last summer on the proviso that we'd let him move back up north this summer after "giving us one last season". That seems to be the way it happened anyway, the swiftness of him moving to Wigan for an absolute bargain price all points to that being how it was <ok>

As for Lambert, I'd have him here without a doubt. I've never admitted it up until now, but I actually think that he is a slightly better - albeit very similar - player to Holty, his scoring record certainly attests to that at least.

I know. He gave us a good four years though and I don't mind him moving on. He'll stay a legend this way.

Gary Hooper odds on oddschecker is 1/4 to join Norwich - QPR is 4/1, are they trying to tell us something.

No to Lambert for me, time to move away, no interest in overpriced English 30 year olds.

Interestingly Higuain is having a medical at Napoli. Interest from they was quoted as only of the reasons our deal for FQ was held up. Wonder if this might help.

I also wondered if the Higuain medical might alter FQ's thinking. I agree that we need a more flexible forward than Lambert, as the days of the 'target man' forward are diminishing. Without wanting to overstoke the fire, the BBC is apparently reporting that we have matched QPR's bid for Hooper. Haven't checked myself but am about to.

The best thing is if Hooper joins QPR it's about money and tells me enough about his attitude that I wouldn't want him here anyway

On the other hand if we do sign him I do rate his footballing ability and it would massively piss off QPR fans which would be pretty sweet.

The odds indicates someone knows something.

Crrect me if I'm wrong - but didn't Darren Huckerby take quite a pay cut to come and play for Norwich?? If Hooper really wants to play for us, then he can tell his agent to 'take a hike' and he'll come to CR. I don't want us to be 'held to ransom' over this and think we'd be better off going for another player!!

    It depends on his priorities

Fact is, if we manage to qualify with England for the WC next year and he's slotted a few goals he may get in by default the quality of forwards is so crap atm.

Hodgson has had a look at him before and I think he nearly played once but pulled a "Pilkington" and injury forced him out unfortunately.

With some premier league football and some goals he stands a good chance, especially if we finish well.

To me, that gives him a motivation to strive towards and should make him a driven player for us.

Just have to wait a little longer unfortunately lol!

QPR now are favourites. Don't get why we went into as much as 1/4 after the news that QPR had a bid accepted lol
