I would have Rooney over Berbatov any day of the week but seeing as how I don't particularly like Berbatov, that isn't saying much. What it comes down to is who I think is more likely to change a game in an instant when we really need it, and that is Rooney imo.
 
Both are suitable in certain circumstances but in terms of ability to change a game I would have to prefer Rooney
 
To be honest both are great but the thought of Bebe and Obertan playing as our strikers in 5 or 6 years gives me goose bumbs. Imagine the flair <party>
 
Rooney is in another league.
Berb has pitched in this season yes but rooneys consistantly changing games week in week out. Even if he's not
on the score sheet he always gets involved in all the best moves and indeed the goals.
Berbatov will have one brilliant game then 5 terrible ones.
 
Terrible ones?

Why do people always say this, Berbatov rarely has a terrible game and most games he plays well, whether he scores or he doesn't. It is like people think that if a player does not score he is terrible. That is ridiculous and quite frankly stupid. Berbatov always has a good touch, always brings players into play and always holds up the ball well.
 
What I mean by terrible games is that he goes missing in games and yes he will hold the ball up well but then his pass will let him down, he will get frustrated and his impact on the game will fade. This happened mid season when hernandez was getting more chances coming on for berbatov and as we've seen, he's taken his chances!
 
Not even considering the brilliant partenership between Rooney and hernandez?

My point is that berbatov has an ok record at utd.
41 goals in 96 apps
and hernadez has 13 in 27
so goal scoring wise at the end of the day there pretty close.
It's the system playing with Rooney just behind had some devastatingly good performances like against shalke.instead of berbatov, hernandez and utd as a whole have looked more impressive like that in my opinion.
 
When Utd play with Hernandez it is risky business simply because Hernandez can't hold up the ball or dribble and has quite a poor touch for a pro. If a team does not play a high line, Hernandez becomes infective. In my opinion Hernandez has a limited game and should be used as a super sub. If we were to sell Berbatov I would like us to sign a top class striker simply because Hernandez is not good enough to be our number 2 and our number 3 is even worse.
 
Yea I agree with that. Hernandez has the nack of being in the right place at the right time and will run for 90mins but lacks the touch strength and creativity that berbatov can produce.
I'd rather see a new top name who can provide a bit more consistency to the team.
Someone like.....benzema?? We've been linked with him before.
Or... Falcao from porto? He's fantastic in the air and would love all those crosses we see from Valencia every week.

Unfortunately it always takes him 6 seconds to do this, so the move leads to nothing. Hence, his pitiful return in terms of assists. And if a striker isn't scoring or isn't creating opportunities for his teammates, then he isn't having a great game. I didn't buy it with Heskey and I don't buy it with any other striker. People marvel at Berba's ability to hold the ball up and his touch. Well, freestyle footballers can do wonderful things with a football but that doesn't make them great players. It's about applying it to a given situation and hurting the opposition. Berba has too many games where he doesn't do this and this is why the manager has lost faith with him.
 
Im sorry but i disagree...berba may take 6 seconds to do all that but tis WAY WAY better then trying to run with it and lose it straight away..just like roo and hernandez do.

For me berba is the better player...hes better then roo and chico but the problem with him is confidence.If the manager has no confidence in him as well as the fans then he wont play well...berba has huge ability..much more then rooney and chcio.Look at him at spurs..ask all the spurs fans and they would tell you he would be one of the best players to play for them.Great ability just needs confidence.

If we play and build a team around Berbatov I will despair. He slows down the play too much and doe4s not score goals or create chances. If you are building a team around a front man with those attributes, you'll have problems.

Hasn't scored in nearly 3 years in Europe. That is appalling. I don't care if people say there's more to scoring for a forward. Strikers are still judged on their goals first and foremost and to that end, Berbatov did better in the league last season (even if most goals did come in a few games). If he can do that more often, then he'll be worth building a team around but let's face it, he's 31 and won't improve. He's never going to have the mentality or speed of thought to build a team around.
