Just a thought but could the reason we have signed or supposedly after players in area's we are all ready strong in be because we are going to take cup games more seriously this season? Just thinking that would require a bigger stronger squad as not to burn players out and replacements would have to be equally as good as the players replaced so maybe rotation is the plan. We are supposedly aiming for Europe so if we don't qualify through the league position then maybe through the Cups like Swansea and Wigan last season but with hopefully with a lot higher league position than the latter. I'm definitely expecting a good showing in the FA Cup. League Cup can be strictly for the kids, because it's an abomination.

How about we signed Wanyama because he's quality and improves the side and we signed Lovren because we needed to improve at centre back.

I would love a cup run! After watching Wigan in the FA cup final last year. You could see us as a great under dog against one of the big 4 lol

If we win either of the cups we get into the Europa Cup of death? and by some fluke qualified and won the Europa Cup we qualify for the champions league?

Mauricio's primary aim is the League. We need lots of players because he wears their little legs to stumps. He has indicated he is interested in the Cups...why not the League Cup...good chance of silverware which can make or break a season. The main aim though is to improve our team for the Pl.

I remember seeing somewhere, maybe from Peach, that speaking to Poch revealed that he will take cup competitions very seriously next year.

Intends to field first team sides.

That's a thought that several people have talked about in various threads over the last few days. Yes, a good thought.

I don't think we would be spending this amount of money with the intention of cup success, although I would love a day at Wembley. I think its more poch wants to strengthen in midfield and win the battle.

This. If you make your players work 20% harder, you'll need 20% more players.
