http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/327349/QPR-facing-heartbreak-over-Gary-Hooper-deal GARY HOOPER'S move to QPR is stalling over the player's reservations of playing in the Championship next season. The Celtic striker is set to leave Parkhead this summer and has already attracted interest from Premier League club's Norwich City, Hull City and West Ham. Even though the SPL champions have accepted a £5m bid from the west London side, Hooper is unsure over plying his trade in England's second tier. The 25-year-old is also hoping to force himself into the England squad before next year's World Cup and feels his best chance will be by playing in the Premier League. Hooper joined Celtic in 2010 and has gone on to score 82 times in 137 games. Harry Redknapp hoped to secure a deal for the former Scunthorpe striker by the end of this week as he prepares for the departure of Loic Remy. Newcastle are interested in signing the Frenchman, who rejected their advances in January in favour of a move to QPR. The club's hierarchy are holding out for a fee of £8m in the hope that they can recoup the money outlaid for the striker.
Why do players who score a few goals in the SPL think they are suddenly world class? It's about the level of League 1 with the exception of Celtic who are about Championship level. Anyone who plays up front for them will score goals. He's played one season in the Championship and scored 20 goals in 39 games, nothing spectacular. That being said I think he'd be a decent signing but I wouldn't be too gutted if we didn't get him, in fact I'd still rather have Charlie Austin who has a better scoring record than Hooper anyway and would be cheaper.
Besides, we already have Scottish international Jamie Mackie in our ranks. Adam LeFondre would likely score a few for us in the Championship - not sure why he was mostly used as only an impact super-sub by Reading last season. Knowing our luck, DJ Campbell will be banging them in for Blackburn (and against us).
Annoying really. Will he won't he. Well f..k off if you don't want to come. Stop pissing about let's move on.
DJ has already been let go by Blackburn, seems like they are run worse than us. As for 20 in 39 not being special, whens the last time we had a player who scored better than 1 in 2 games?
Remy came very close last season, albeit over 14 games but that was in the Prem, with a very poor team. However, I said it wasn't spectacular and it's not. I don't think he'd be a bad signing and do think he'd score some goals for us, however, I wouldn't be too disappointed if he goes somewhere else.
DJ hasnt left Blackburn - their manager has denied it. Although, you dont know what to believe with that club.
