Isco stated that he was in negotiations with Real about a fortnight before he signed.

Yes which is exactly the same scenario with us and Higuain, we were in negotiation with him before Ancelotti was appointed, but none of those deals cited earlier were completed until Ancelotti was in post. What seems to have changed with the Higuan deal is that whilst we had agreed terms with the player, the club then changed their valuation of him. That has got nothing to do with Wenger 'dithering'

Apart from the ones that were? Carvajal had already signed and Casemiro's loan was turned into a permanent deal.
Isco was only held up because of the U21 Euros and he only had to sort out his medical.

The previous two already had terms in place for Real to buy and Isco signed after Ancelotti was appointed. I'm not sure how this is evidence of Wenger 'dithering' ?

You keep saying that as if it's relevant. Every team in the world had terms in place to buy Dembele last summer. £15m and he's yours, as long as you can agree a deal with the player.
Someone still had to agree to these deals going through, just as they did with Isco. It clearly wasn't Ancelotti in any of those cases.

Anyway, this whole scenario seems to have moved on now as Higuain has said that Mourinho wants to sign him. If that happens I can't see Chelsea buying Rooney too, so there's a chance that we might sign either one of them. Then of course there is the Suarez equation. It seems that all 3 want to move from their respective clubs and with any luck, we'll nab one of them.

Different from a buy out clause though. Those two players were playing for Real on a loan basis as I understand it. You can still negotiate with representatives from the club, as we were clearly doing with Higuain. We were told though that any deal would have to wait until a manager was appointed.

Although, I do quite enjoy it when he comes on this board, gets owned, and makes a complete tit of himself.

How do you know that? The same reports seemed to indicate that he wasn't going to be sold because Ancelotti wanted him. They're now saying he can go for £40m or whatever.
If you believe that Ancelotti was involved with the Isco deal before he joined, then why wouldn't he have been involved in the Higuain deal, too?

As for Suarez, Higuain and Rooney, it's conceivable that none of them will move or all three could join clubs other than Arsenal.
Napoli, Chelsea, Real, PSG (if Ibrahimovic buggers off), some random Russians... plenty of options. I wouldn't assume that you'll bring in any of them.
You've still go to unload a few players first, I think. Bendtner, Chamakh, Park Chu-Yong...
Can't see another forward signing til you shift at least one on. Giroud, Walcott, Gervinho, Podolski and now Sanogo, plus the above? Seems unlikely.

  12. Not a chance, sunshine!

For a start, you couldn't afford the wages, and secondly, as I have said before, there is absolutely no way on this God's Earth that Whinger will pay over and above top-dollar to buy any player - he simply doesn't have the guts to risk his reputation on getting it wrong.

I think our bid for Suarez confirms that we're in the running to sign a top quality striker. Also we've shifted a few of the deadwoods out, and despite our best efforts Bendtner is a turd that just won't seem to flush.

Any chance you could take him for us? you've signed a few of our rejects before

Ah yes, the old "we have bid therefore we're in the running" thought. Take it from us on this board, that means diddly

Making a bid that's not going to be accepted just seems a little pointless to me. They were never going to agree to it, so why make it and why make it public?
Seems like an attempt to look ambitious without actually being ambitious.

I think it had more to do with testing the water and seeing how much Real really wanted Suarez. Far from being pointless, it seems to have motivated Suarez into saying that he wants a move and is pleased that an English club values him. It also stokes up the striker merry go round this summer with the Rooney, Higuian, Suarez deals - as they all want to move and Arsenal and Real seem to be key players in what happens next. We'll see, I've said many a time that I'm not one to get excited about a deal until I see it confirmed by my club. There's too many fishes chasing too many bites in the transfer rumour mill.

I agree with pinkie. It's why United have bid for cesc. The results have been positive as well with no rejection.
