It would've been accepted had it been Mata.

Can see this. Luiz is not really the sort of player Man U would want, but Mata for Rooney? Almost a no-brainer. He and RvP....yikes.

Why would it. Seems you really want Rooney so why not see how high you are willing to go?

If you want him, as I said its going to cost you the world.

That was my thought. And the opening bid in any negotiation like this is always rejected - if Chelsea will open with Mata plus £10m then they will almost certainly go higher, even if the first bid was acceptable.

By getting Mata you are bleeding us dry, how do you not see the point I'm making?

Exactly. Just because its Mata dosnt mean anything.

15 to 20 million plus mata of 50million for Rooney outright will do it. Lets see how much Chelsea want him.

You would be using Rooney as a striker where he is miles upon miles better than Mata.

We'd lose our best source of creativity in the process. The fact you've rejected the bid shows its bollocks.

Or as is more likely the case, we have rejeted it as its too low.

Sure Mata is brilliant but who o you think is worth more in marketing terms? Rooney by some distance. We would lose the player who for years has been the face of the club so you have to take that into consideration.

Therefore the bid was too low and rejected out of hand.

OT - See how we reject the offer instantly yet Barcelona have still to reject our Fabregas bid...

Wayne Rooney played 44 matches last season, scored 23 goals and made 18 assists.
Juan Mata played 74 matches last season, scored 21 goals and made 39 assists.

    41/44 = 0.93
    60/74 = 0.81

Another reason why its too low.

I think its you who is in dreamland. If you want Rooney its wgoing to cost you £50million.

    Do the maths, Mata (30million ) + 10million = £40million.

So that makes you £10million short. £5million might persuade the club though if Chelsea ask nicely.
