.......at the suggestion of Stevo on another thread, please put your thoughts here on the subject and keep them out of other discussion points. If at all possible, can visitors with opinions, as well as local posters, please refrain from inter-club slagging, and stick to cogent thoughts about the likelyhood or not. It would also be useful if reasoned comments to support the differing opinions were included, rather than just trying to score Brownie points in some sort of dick measuring contest. I'll just ask that if we are one of the favourites for the immediate trap door, then where does that leave the others that came up with us, and those existing Prem clubs that seem to habitually struggle to stay up? What's going to make the difference this season?
Don't see the point of such a thread, you have signed a quality player up front, you've missed on Ince, but so what! Players you have will either step or don't, you won't know that until about 10 games in. I am sure Malky has other targets in mind, and when you've signed them up, and watched them play, only then you can see if straight back is a possibility.
Thanks for your comment jager - if you don't see much point in the thread, why did you have to post? The "point of the thread" was in response to one of our posters suggesting that it could be discussed in one place, rather than having the usual reprobates churning out the subject on other threads when we are trying to discuss other issues. If you don't see the point in it, fair enough - just keep out of it.
You misunderstand me, how can you discuss such a thing when you don't even know the make up of the team? We pretty well know what we are doing now, but you've signed only one player (| think), so discussing whether you go down is a bit premature IMO
Yep, I agree completely. Doesn't stop the constant opinions/wumming of other Swansea posters on every other thread which they've joined in. Right now I'd say we're stronger than Hull and Palace. I also expect us to sign more quality than both of them. I think it's higher unlikely all 3 of us will fill the relegation spots. Norwich, villa, Sunderland (who knows what theyre doing, could be another QPR), saints and Stoke are all there to stay up rather than anything else. So no one knows the squads even yet, let alone the form or ability of anyone's starting 11 yet, so lets try and keep all the 'going straight back down' BS here until we start to look like we are and give the other threads a chance.
I didn't misunderstand you at all jager - you have just missed the point of the thread, not necessarily the subject. It is impossible to know right now, but that doesn't stop the continual prick waving comments about our immediate exit from the Prem on threads that have nothing to do with the subject - hence, here is one that has. Whatever the conjecture about who will and who won't go down, it would be nice for posters to put tangible reasons for their opinions. It also does no harm in discussing football matters on here rather than a range of diverse threads from which some prefer to stay clear.
There are enough threads being driven off topic, so if we can do something to curb that, then let's do it. As an example, I was having a discussion with Southampton fans on their board a week or so back about our mutual interest at the time in Wanyama and the proposed increases in capacity at the CCS and St. Mary's. Out of the blue, in comes Dai with both feet with a comment to the Saints fans that they are wasting their money with a stadium capacity increase as they are one of the favourites to go down. Not surprisingly, the Saints guys took a bit of an exception to his comment and asked him to justify it. Back came rambling Dai with the well-worn addage to explain that anyone outside the top 7 are candidates for the trap door. Why then say that Saints were one of the favourites for the drop? - that sort of interuption to a discussion is silly and annoying. I just wish some posters would think before they make inflammatory remarks on threads that were discussing a completely different topic.
This thread hasn't been started because of Dai though. There have been multiple posts and as Jäger says no one has a clue yet about who's going down.
Love the title of this thread. All fans should be able to laugh at themselves. Personally I think you will be fine. All the best for the season
It's always tough for promoted teams, but you definitely have the strongest squad. Will be interesting to see who else you bring in.
Don't need to tell you it's gonna be hard. Maybe the odd defeat by 4,5 or even 6 (will happen to most of us) I think you'll stay up. I went for Hull, Palace ( for obvious reasons) and either Villa or Stoke. So at least 16th for you. (Unfortunatly I'm ****e at predictions) Here's to a decent season anyway.
Straight back down ! There will always be a possibility that this can happen, talk last season was that the Championship was the worse for a few years, if that's the case Cardiff, Hull & Palace will be in trouble but it was also said that the Prem saw its worse year too with Arsenal in the doldrums but getting 4th place. Many teams will be very different from last season with both players and managers changed. How do I see it ? It's not going to be a cakewalk but I believe that there will be up to 6 teams below us. Hull & Palace Sunderland, Stoke & Southampton. Norwich (I hope they stay up). Things against us. Too many Championship players we need 3 or 4 to make the grade. A hard start, we need to pick up a few points early. Things for us. We play as a team, no prima donnas. We will be an unknown quantity there will be teams who think there only need to turn up. Malky & Vince they want this as much as us.
Sunderland fan but trying to be neutral. There's not a chance in Hell you'll be above us, Southampton or Norwich (Does that sound neutral)
I don think we'll finish above Sunderland either but it could go either way with the wholesale changes. Lots of players with no Pl experience and a manager who's unproven too. Obviously we're the same, just difficult to know how either team will fair. Surprised to see you say Norwich, I think they are a team we can definitely finish above. I agree saints will probably finish above us.
No team is to big to go down, you don't win the games you don't get the points, you were very close last season. I'm not saying you'll be in the mix to go down but there are lots of big teams in the lower leagues, they to must have thought we'd never go down. As for the reasons for this thread, I haven't really seen the other threads disrupted and I'm not about to go looking for them. Just think that yes getting relegated is a topic of discussion, IMO it's to early to say anything conclusive about it.
