Until it's on the official club website, he hasn't, as far as I'm concerned. If they said 'signed, subject to....' that would do for me <ok>

Mediasat are reporting we've agreed a fee for Fabio Quagliarella!

<laugh> they can't do this to me!

i absolutely love this guy - one of the best left feet in the game. not prolific by any means, a scorer of great goals rather than a great number of goals. a brilliant 'number 10' type player but i just cannot see this being true. his age and the fact he's never played outside italy make me think this must be nonsense. but i have no idea! just being linked to him... well, i'm too stunned to type right now...

In the Daily Mail now, like I said yesterday I would imagine the person who thought they saw Hooper with McNally yesterday actually saw Alderweilder. I personally think the Hooper deal is unlikely, seems to have gone all quiet.

the hooper deal is quiet for a very good reason! it's all a game between the clubs.

it's still very much on <ok>

It's gunna be sad for Celtic when they keep holding out for the bigger price for Hooper, no one pays it then the window closes and they end up letting him go for free next year!

Otherwise known as 'shooting yourself in the foot' <laugh>
Hell, they just got £12.5m for Wanyama, surely they could afford to drop Hooper's price a bit?

To be honest, and I know he's a much better all round player who had a longer contract and has more potential, but if Saints are willing to pay £12.5m for Wanyama then I'm not surprised Celtic are holding out for more than £4m for their top scorer of the past three seasons. Celtic certainly don't need the money now so they're not going to be held to ransom as easily as we may think.

Edit: just seen your post Cromer, sounds like we're looking at it from opposite angles ;)

Martin Peters was 31 when he signed for us in 1975. I myself think we could do very much worse than bring in one "old head", an experienced player with the skill and understanding to help the younger players. We have that at the back with Bassong and Turner, but we haven't got it in midfield, which is where we need it. No good expecting the back four to be all calm and collected under pressure if they have no calming influence in front of them. That IMO was a lot of the trouble in the second half of last season when the team's confidence faltered post-Christmas. Don't know whether Fabio Quagliarella would fit the bill; my suggestion earlier was Mikel Arteta! <ok>

it'll be interesting who we get in the striker department.
is Quagliarella a smoke-screen for hooper
i'm often wary of italians coming over here as they've often not performed, or at least that is my impression. certainly so far, after a quiet June, it's warming up nicely both outside and in our transfer activity

Zola, di Matteo, di Canio. The one's who have disappointed were youngsters. The old heads have contributed a lot. <ok>

They're saying the deal is almost complete with a 40k p/w wage and 7.5mil fee.

Was thinking, he has a world cup place to play for within the ranks of Italy and he isnt going to achieve that sitting on the bench.

He'll be a good signing, with the younger players we have signed we need someone with lot's of experience.
