    The pressure they are under must be incredible, I have vast respect for surgeons, probably more than any other walk of life.

    What pisses me off is people suing Hospitals and the NHS, I can understand when a Doctor's error leads to a death that must be terrible for the families and i'll bet the Doc too. But sometimes people react to grief with anger and just want someone to blame, they commonly aggravate my ire when they claim the money's not important, they just don't want anyone else having to go though what they have.

    Aye right.

    I don't want to be a surgeon because you're called Mr instead of Dr <laugh> I'm not working that long to lose my title.

    I've been shadowing a consultant in A&E outside of uni because I'd like to go down the route of emergency medicine. The workload that they have is unreal. They are lucky if they have 5 minutes to sit down. Best injury I've seen so far was a teenager who broke a few bones in his hand because he punched a wall. When asked why he done it, he shrugged and said he wanted to <laugh> That's the kind of people who are killing the NHS. Some of the stories I've heard are shocking, usually involving people with items up their arse and needing an ambulance because they can't drive up <laugh> I'm yet to see one of those cases.

    There is a guy in my year who can't dissect the cadaver. Everytime he tries, he goes grey, sweaty and almost collapses. Comes in with vicks smothered all over his face but that makes him even worse. Guy has no chance <laugh>

    Agreed, ****s on the news the other day going to A&E with earaches and stubbed toes.

    <doh>

    These dicks that waste A&E time should be billed, if only for just being stupid.

    ML - Can I kindly suggest you stick to medicine and don't take a year out to complete a science Bachelor's degree? Intercalating medical students are a royal pain in the ass <whistle>

    I don't think I would do an intercalated year. I'll wait and see what my options are, maybe neurology or anatomy would be good. Plus if it pains you then even better.

    Best to find yourself a nice little relatively stress free specialty like Endocrinology or some such thing. You will thank me for this advice in the years to come. <ok>
