Yeah

We'll see if anything comes of it.

Peruzzi looking done now. Wouldn't be surprised to see him and Giaccherini announced tomorrow!

its too much, this is not the safc i know and love, its a new safc i love

The main concern I have is these people scout teams to play in the Italian leagues. Do these players fit in with the Prem' style and how much so our new guys know about the prem?

I think these new players will know ab out the Premier League & I think they will fit in well, the question has to be will the Premier league fit in with them?

I have been a very sceptical poster regarding my feelings as to whether PDC is the long term answer for us and there are good arguments on both sides. However, even I am amazed at the level of work that has been done this summer and the 6 new faces in already with possibly 3 or 4 still to come? Its breathtaking tbh.

I see the latest 2 could be Peruzzi (I know little about but have read so many itk pundits who rate this kid highly) and now the lad Emanuele Giaccherini who I do know more about from Champs League with Juve and and Italy where he is a terrific footballer (I just cant believe we could get him).

I still have a gut feeling Danny Rose will be the final piece of the jigsaw and certainly another striker is in the offing along with Peruzzi but we have done a lot of work in the last few weeks to get to this point so far.

So, is PDC making the difference, or is it the new backroom set up thats getting these deals done so quickly? Since we appointed Robert de Fanti as our director of football and Valentino Angelino as our chief scout we seem to be operating in a different league when it comes to recruitment and with this, our entire scouting and targets have changed massively.

Its exciting, scary and intriguing all at the same time and I am really looking forward to seeing how this all pans out but this has to be one of the most incredible close seasons in living memory?

Roll on and FTM Paolo:emoticon-0103-cool:

its the whole package which makes it the real deal, no halfway house with bits and bobs which is no use to man nor beast, safc needed a huge direction change and these men as a management team are doing what was stated from the onset ,ie working all hours to make the changes required .
The level of carrying out deals and transfers has been lifted to the highest level possible,

Exactly so, we`re just not used to it. This kind of efficiency is a shock to the system

It's strange isn't it - are we all eternal optimists being Sunderland fans? Is it bred into us to be that way? I too am excited about the players we have signed and the talk coming out about players we are after - yet Ladbrokes have us second favourites to get relegated - only Palace are shorter odds (as I said on another thread) - I am excited about the start of the new season. Can't wait till things kick into gear and we get to see the new boys play

Change is a good thing, i don't expect us to set the world on fire at first but the beauty of the premiership is it's a long season. Plenty of time for the team to gel.. I truly belive we'll be one of the fittest teams in the comp and preparation is key, pdc, short and co have a plan in place and no matter what i'm behind the club 100% Can't wait for Fulhalm!!!!

I think you're right AB85. We shouldn't be expecting to win everything straight away, but a couple of good results in the first few games should give the team and the supporters a huge boost.

Are the numbers of season ticket sales down?

Sure i read this last week.

One question, do the our odds of staying up reflect the odds of being relegated. If they don't then the bookies are just covering their own arse as we're very much an unknown quantity.

Cest - I respect a good post from you and this is asking our opinions so I will give mine.

Ellis is the answer simple as - He's put the correct people in the right positions within the club to do things, he trusts his staff and his staff trust him. It has a real feel of chain of command about it to me, very structured.

PDC COACHES the players, our scoutts bring the players in from the brief proved from PDC and Big Ellis and Maggie get them over the line. I'm a little worried about us tapping Italy up but this is a market that is there to be exploited like the nags did with the French league.

Our business model has changed and I think it's the right thing to do. For far too long have we paid well over the top for players that are total rubbish and Ellis has just had enough. Fair play to him.

I'm really excited about what is ahead. Our football will be better, the quality of players we have will be better and the club will be better for this. I really think we need to tie PDC down to a longer contract because if he gets this right in his first season, big clubs will come sniffing and we don't need that at this early stage.

Viva Ellis Short and long may this continue.....

Yes and if he doesn't we'll have a Pardew pay off on our hands. Part of new structure for me, is if PDC doesn't work out, he can leave the club with out the whole face of the club changing. If he walks or gets sacked then the only area of the club that's affected is the 1st team coaching. Unlike in the past where new managers overtook huge clearouts and brought in their players has had us starting from scratch over and over. those days are gone and no new manager can come in and dictate the running off our club. Extending a contract of a unproven after 8 games in charge would be as laughable as them lot up the road. Beauty of the new set up is we don't need to.

1oo% correct , the contract can be addressed at any time, whilst i think he will do a good job , its the set up which is paramount and is more important than the individual, its good to see some of the fears being eased day by day for the doubters.
The players coming in are getting a good start in having time to train together and play the pre season games, its got to be better than leaving the signings to the last week and no pre season together.

a few more yet i think

Please explain.

It's all about opinions, and day by day things seem to be changing.

Plus when you're on the fence regarding the unknown you can add opinions for both sides of the argument. Kev thinks it's against the law to change your mind or try and view from a different perspective.
