Sunderland appear to be making some progress on one of the more unlikely transfer coups of the summer...  (51)  (12)  SHARE WITH EPL FRIENDS ⋆ + According to reports in Italy, Sunderland could be about to land a transfer coup by ensnaring Juventus midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini. This was a move that was first mooted last week, and having seen him just star for Italy in the Confederations Cup we took it with a healthy pinch of salt. But the move has been gathering pace ever since, despite some public protestations of his agent, and reports are now widespread that Sunderland's interest is genuine and his club are open to the idea of letting him go in order to help fund their own transfer business. The Gazzetta Dello Sport, who generally enjoy a good reputation for credibility in Italy, is reporting that the player is, at this point, 'one step away from Sunderland' with an â¬8million (around £6.9million) bid lodged. Quite what 'one step away' means isn't clear, but what does seem quite certain is that there are serious talks between all parties taking place over a potential move. It is also well worth noting that the journalist who has been pushing the story from the very start enjoys very close links with new Sunderland scout Massimo Mirabelli. The big question at this stage would appear to be more surrounding the player himself. His agent has been adamant that Giaccherini would like to stay at Juventus, though with the former Cesena man earning just £10k per week in Italy and needing regular football with the World Cup looming, it is perfectly plausible that Sunderland could offer him an attractive package. I'm officially bumping this one up from 'pinch of salt' status to 'dare to believe (but don't bank on it)'.
Ooooh ****in hell @TheMilanGuy Sunderland is very close to signing Emanuele Giaccherini from Juventus. Would become a Premier League icon @TheMilanGuy Giaccherini all heart, would make the Stadium of Light shine even brighter. A little flea pest amongst the Black Cats.
I want this lad, sess to stay and Zarate. Can't decide if I want competition for places or I'm just being greedy.
I do, It's all well and good having a cracking first 11 but we still need game changers on the bench. We haven't really had anyone like that since Bridges. So often we need to make a change and no one on the bench can make an impact.
No mate, but neither will Johnson, Giaccherini or Zarate. But a bit of rotation is easily applied when all four can comfortably play anywhere across that line of three. If we had all four I can't see any of them spending prolonged periods on the bench. Same can't be said for Larsson and McClean however.
Players like Sess, Giaccherini & Zarate wouldn't sit on sunderland bench LOL players like that only come to sunderland to play.
I'd agree if it was two players competing for one spot but it would be four players competing for 3 spots in the team. They'd share minimum bench time between them. If we let Sess go and bring these players in then I'm not looking forward to falling back onto McClean to sustain form or worse, drag us out of the ****..
We are not a big enough club to have class players competing for spaces in our team. thats just the way it is pal.
Quite true at this present moment in time, from 1st name on thd team sheet to dont know if he'll get a game, if it does happen that would be progress i hadnt even contemplated
We'll have agree to disagree there like. Premiership is the place to be for young classy players and the league is seeing an influx which will surely continue. 40K+ crowds, Category 1 status, I think we're quite attractive, Certainly more attractive than most outside the top 6. Location is a problem yeah but we want professionals not nightlife seekers.
Just thinking there how many times when the big guns come up do we say 'look at that ****in bench man!'
