Oooooh I work I work!! Sorry I have been a member for nearly 2 years and haven't actually got around to posting anything before. Hello everyone Just want to say, on the whole Ruddy to Chelsea thing that if true I am surprised that Arsenal haven't come in for him. Would be a better fit for him to in my opinion. Also as s*it as Ruddy leaving would be...Bunn, although not my choice for a number 1, surely couldn't be as bad as Marshall at Cardiff???
I think the key thing is CH saying there have been no bids. IMO, that means no £5m bid to improve on. Until there's a direct quote from CH or Ruddy himself this still seems like journo rumour mongering to me.
Until the club says otherwise, I'm happy to believe that Ruddy is going no where. He has always struck me as a very humble man and he clearly loves Norwich. I know there will be stupid money and the chance to play for a bigger club, but I like to think that there are still a few footballers out there that put their personal feelings for a club ahead of their desire for money. I think Ruddy is one of those men!
£5m is an insult, they want a bench warmer for £5m go get one elsewhere Ruddy is worth more than double that he is the core pin in our team I say don't sell him for £20m
Just read this on twitter david mcnally ‏@davidmcnally62 8m Right, busy this pm & so I haven't responded to tweets. Can confirm though that I haven't been in talks with clubs about any one leaving #ncfc
If I know McNally (or at least have a perception of him), there's no way Ruddy will go for £5 million. Higher, then yes, wouldn't be at all surprised, sadly.
Given that I also support Chelsea, I would point out that Courtois is rapidly developing a case of Stockholm syndrome at Athletico Madrid. Each year (3 now as of 13/14) he has stated firmly his desire to return and who can blame him; he is a fan favourite there! Now Chelsea can order him to return but if he is unhappy at the prospect, it would be sensible to cash in (Courtois) rather than have a disruptive player in the dressing room who doesn't feel like he belongs there. From a Norwich point of view, GK is the most important position for us (clean sheets breed confidence in the defence). Bunn is an able deputy but not good enough to be the No.1 24/7. I guess in the end of the day, it will be the player's choice. Chelsea are after all one of the top 6 teams in Europe!
I agree 100%. I think the most important business of all during the rest of this transfer window is keeping hold of Ruddy. A goalkeeper who is trusted allows the whole team to relax a little and perform. Look at the way our performance changed in the final two games when he was back. And what a huge part Gunn played in that golden period when we were going for the first ever premiership title and the Munich victory. What Schmiekel (sorry about spelling) did for MU or how Brian Clough built from the back and Shilton.
Is that because he really likes Athletico, or predominately that he wants regular first team football? If Cech was out of the picture, would he reconsider? Much as I don't want Ruddy to go, Schwarzer for free for a season, £10m more to spend on outfield players, and Van Ginkel on loan, would be a hard offer to turn down in my opinion. We'd only really be sacrificing youth in goal for someone undoubtedly good enough for the PL, and any debates over priority outfield positions would become irrelevant as we'd likely have the money to sort the lot.
Interesting debate on 5live about the MLS, they were chucking about names for the "best player in the league", and Kei Kamara came up as "possibly not the best technically, but certainly up there for effectiveness" (other names Henry, Donovan, Cahill, etc), which was surprising, but also shows the quality of the league, which the US contributors would freely admit was not as good as the championship overall. Our pre-season games over there you wouldn't think would be much of a challenge then really! I'm hoping we don't sign anyone else from that league now, if KK is genuinely coming up as being one of the best available. (Probably not the right thread, but it's certainly not worth another!)
The express are reporting that Chelsea are in advanced talks with Ruddy. What I found strange is not the piece is not written by Mick Dennis. Surely he is more likely to have inside info, about the comings and goings of Norwich? Add to this McNally tweeting last night at nearly 11:30 we are in no talks abut a player leaving. Looks like more made up journalism to me.
With Australia already qualified for Brazil, Schwarzer will be looking for a PL club to shine in and keep his starting place. We could do a lot worse if this Ruddy rumour does play out.
There are 3 subtle words in the Express Ruddy article which suggest it is a load of horse poo: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/412776/Norwich-shot-stopper-John-Ruddy-in-advanced-talks-with-Chelsea?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+daily-express-sport-news+%28Daily+Express+%3A%3A+Sport+Feed%29 'believed to be'
anyone heard of Alderweirald of Ajax. CB and we are being linked to him in Holland and in the Telegraph. apparently was linked to Liverpool last January.
Apologies if this has been posted today already Martin Olsson. http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=324060
