Best of luck guys. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-pull-out-running-4874090
Out of interest, how excited were you and most Cardiff fans at the prospect of Wanyama? And have you been linked with any other central midfielders?
So the Celtic manager isn't certain we are still interested. The present position depends on who you talk to...Mauricio says we are. My position...pleased if we did get him, but not in a state of despair if we don't.
No sour grapes fellas, but I was never that impressed for the sort of money Celtic are demanding. As far as midfielders are concerned we already have Whittingham, Gunnarrson, Kimbo, Noone, Conway and Jordon Mutch, apart from Tom Ince (hopefully). Also some great youngsters like Joe Ralls coming through our academy. That's not to say we should be complacent there, and many of us would like to see some like Bridcutt or even Huddlestone brought in. Whatever, Wayamana is a good player - just not sure the value placed on his head is right.
I didn't realise you had Jordan mutch. I rated him when I saw him a few times for Watford, on loan from Birmingham. How's he getting on?
Yes fats - we do have Jordan and he is a very, very good player indeed. Thanks for mentioning him. He got injured at the start of last season and had to fight his way back into the first team through our development squad games. Got to a decent fitness level by the New Year, but Aron Gunnarson was having a great season an kept him out until the last dozen games or so. Even then, it was the surprising drop in form by Whitts that probably got him some game time along with our super skilfull Korean Kimbo - that boy is going to be a real star. Jordan has the touch and power to match Gunnar, but playing both together could be a problem - too similar. Nice to talk - hope all goes well in your new season prep.
Thank god, the only reason the transfer has not gone through is that we have been waiting on your approval
Wanyama's a brilliant player. £12m is a steal. Like the other poster said, in a year or two, you'll get far more for him. He'll be a big loss to Celtic, moreso for the CL games. He truly is a gem of a player.
No disrespect taken PS - that's a fair assumption about a new kid on the block team fresh up from the Championship. The point is I could have added Tommy Smith, Don Cowie, Philip Kiss and Craig Bellamy as well if you consider him a midfielder, but I didn't want to bore you. On the matter of Wayanama being a bargain and worth more later - well that's just an assumption and you're kicking off from a high starting point. The point about enhanced future value is all relative and proportional. Very few players command £20M+ and they are exceptional. If you''e forked out £12 mill up front (and high wages), it doesn't take a mathematician to work out there is not a lot left in the tank in "enhanced value" terms. Someone picked up for a few mill will have a lot more mileage and potential profit to go in the future - at 12mill to start, the guy will have to come good to recoup the outlay. Fraiser Campbell in for us at 650K from Sunderland is a case in question. Lot of mileage as far as sell on is concerned, and if you're talking about "steals", take a look at Andreas Cornelius in for us from FC Copenhagen for a reported £7.5M.
You talk of high wages, but if we are in the mix then you know that wages wont be ludicrous we dont really do that
