For the record I'm not saying we should definitely sign Saha, but if he's on a free then I don't see where the harm is in bringing him (or someone similar) in just as insurance more than anything else.

I'd rather take the wages Saha would demand and give it to Bale

I'd rather give Bale Ade's wages. Plus Bentley and Gallas'.

I'd say he can have mine but it'd just be like giving him a fiver in his terms <laugh>

Fiorentina offered £10m for Gomez but Bayern want £15m according to beeb gossip. We should be sniffing around that. I'm not a massive fan of Gomez but i would happily take him for that price.

Yup, absolute steal, he's a very consistent goalscorer.

Gomez for £15m would be a great bit of business.

Someone like him could probably suit our style. If AVB is indeed looking to go 4-3-3, then a potential front three of Villa, Gomez, Bale would be electric.

Villa + Gomez for the price now being quoted for Negredo is a no brainer as far as i'm concerned.
    LEVY!

    ooops, i mean:

    BALDY!

Edit - should point out that 'Baldy' is Baldini and not Levy's hair state

That's actually crazy when you look it at like that. Both are easily better than Negredo (though don't get me wrong, I'd have Negredo at Spurs in a heartbeat too) and yet their combined values match what Sevilla are asking for him.

If Negredo goes to City then the wages might not be too dissimilar either

News concerning two ex-youngsters of ours. Calum Butcher and Kudos Ouenuga, who were both released by the club a few years ago, and drifted into non-league with Hayes and Yeading, have both earned decent contracts at Dundee United.

I remember getting slaughtered on the old 606 for suggesting Butcher had a bright future. He was a good defender at Spurs with an obvious footballing brain. At times he looked one of the best players we had at that time. Pleased to see him get a 2 year deal.

Oyenuga has got himslelf a contract until 2016, never saw him making it at Spurs. It seemed to me he was never more than 5 minutes away from missing an absolute sitter. I think the last time I saw him play was away at Barnet in a pre season game 2 years ago and he was awful.

Good luck to both of them.

Someone I work with is a big Dundee United fan and a part-time Gooner. He won't know what to think of his side signing two ex-Spurs youth players.
It's still nice to see them getting professional contracts, though. Most of our youth players over the past decade or so seem to have vanished from the face of the Earth, so it's a step up from that.

I'm just thankful West Brom are removing the temptation to sign Anelka on a free...

Staying on the subject of former players of ours, I noticed yesterday that Mark Yeates had transferred from Watford to Bradford City. Yeates was a decent talent in his Spirs days and there were a few raised eyebrows when he was let go. In fact at one point he was Daniel Levy's favourite player. He looked good in the Watford v Spurs pre season game a year ago, but only in sporadic bursts. If he puts his mind to it, this could be a very good signing for Bradford.
