It sounds as though Leroy Fer is going to be making his mind up on his future in around 5 days. I would be surprised if he didnt go to Everton but I hope we are in the running for him.

Talk Sport are suggesting that Stoke are going in for Santa Cruz who is a free agent, linking back up with Mark Hughes.

Anyone think he could do a job for us?

    Hope not.

Even if we are, I would be surprised if he doesn't go to Everton, given that he's specifically stated that's where he wants to go.

i think a lot of people were more happy to see wigan relegated so we don't have to listen to dave whelan rambling on. that man loves talking!

Seriously Cromer, I would take £12 Million for Ruddy. Although he is a massive player for us, I think we could replace for around £7 Million which would leave another £5 million added to our kitty.

there comes a topping point with any player where if a bid reaches a certain amount, it becomes too good to refuse. for ruddy, i would say that tipping point is £12m. i wouldn't want to sell him - i don't even think the big man would want to go - but we shall see. i'd rather chelsea just looked elsewhere to be honest. it's bloody obvious we don't want or need to sell him <ok>

I really hope he doesn't want to move. Even if he does go, I'm NOT changing my name on here and will always be thankful for his contribution to our success over the last 3 seasons!!! <ok>

PS - He wouldn't be able to play golf as cheaply as he can at some of the local courses!!!

A lot of it will depend on what they finally offer and what JR wants to do career wise. At £12m I guess we'd take the money and look to buy a quality replacement for maybe half that amount and use the other £6m on strengthening elsewhere.

If JR wants to be a very well paid bench warmer and see maybe Foster, Forster or Butland over take him as England's No2 he'll want to go. If he wants to further his England chances in a World Cup year on a much lesser salary he'll stay put.

This whole John Ruddy saga is very peculiar. Besides all else, why would Chelsea want to pay so much money for a player who may never get off the bench (with Courtois surely becoming first choice in the next couple of years)?

agreed it's odd. courtois will be no.1 unless they are holding him as an asset to be sold. has he ever played for chelsea?
