robbie. i knew what you meant. as i mentioned on here the other day, looks like carlo nash will be coming in as cover in goal. freebie, hasn't played much but was decent as a youngster. hopefully he won't be required to play, no offence to him!
if we are getting carlo nash, does this mean that Camp was deemed not good enough then to offer a new contract do you think?
This Carlo Nash rumour seems very strange. He would be a freebie, but would take a squad place. Couldn't City take a young keeper on loan instead?
did camp not want first team football? i imagine he was earning more than nash will too. sensible deal to have a third choice keeper so that rudd can play a whole season in league one, although i say sensible, but if you check out twitter you'd think we'd signed hitler
camp must have taken a place too, so we're not losing one. i don't think clubs would loan a young keeper out to be 3rd choice - the whole point is to play games is it not?
other non-city news, after cardiff sign the young danish striker, cornelious was his name I think, palace are trying to get dwight gayle from the Posh. £6m rising to £8.5m apparently! i know the guy has talent, but that is surely over-priced for a championship striker.
Its the new sky funds. It was always likely to happen. I hope we can get Hooper for the £4.5M being bandied about because when you see figures like that for DGayle and Ince it would suddenly look like a bargain.
is that fee for dwight gayle correct? not seen too much of him but what i have seen is promising, but that's a massive gamble at that price. i'd have thought £3m would be about right. tom ince, likewise, vastly overpriced at £8m+. i do like the look of andreas cornelius though - reminds me of a young ibrahimovic. only 20 i think, so might be a slow burner, but i think he'll be a good signing eventually. hooper is a bargain if priced around the £5m mark.
I agree about Cornelius, I mentioned him and Helenius in January. Both look very promising players and could be both be strong Premier League forwards in a couple of years.
that's what bbc are reporting, whether it's £4m, £6m or £6m plus add ons, that's a massive load of cash for someone who has played one season in the second tier it might come off, but a big risk for Olly!
a friend of mine raved about him last year at dagenham & redbridge - compared him to kevin phillips in style (i assume he meant a young kevin phillips)! looks more like ian wright to me - tenacious, quick, skilful, good finisher, likes to run in behind. as i say, not seen too much of him yet, just snippets really, but he looks pretty raw at the moment. at least he has the pace to be threat to premier league defences. seems like it's the kind of deal where if he scores a few early on and gains confidence you might have yourself a little superstar on your hands
OT but transfer related, on this day 12 years ago Andy Marshall left City for (in his words) "massive club" 1p5wich Town
Saw him at Posh a couple of times last season - he reminds me a bit of Bellars to be fair- very quick with an eye for goal and a poachers penchant for positioning. He'll be a taent for sure but that's hell of a price to pay for someone as raw as he is currently.
Ollie's plan is to transplant Kevin Phillip's head onto Dwight Gayle's body. Kevin Gayle can then be registered in place of the original two, so releasing an additional slot in Palace's 25-man squad. Meanwhile Posh will receive Gayle's head and Phillip's body plus the cash sum agreed whatever that is.
