If Villa is a pro's pro he'd be a good risk. I don't know enough about him. Most athletes, even top athletes, would figure the down side of their career is a time to have an extra beer, not train quite as hard--and sit out most of the year with a sore hamstring or what have you. And the fact that it would be the downside of his career makes me not want him. He's won everything worth winning. He'd have to be one hell of a competitor not to let his effort and enthusiasm level drop with a move away from Barca.

I agree. We just have to hope he is "one hell of a competitor"!

In what world are Torres/Ba/Lukaku "crap"?

Kone is also a decent striker, holds the ball up well and has a good turn of a pace. I agree old strikers play less of a role than they used to due to the decline of 4-4-2 but you still need a good one to win things and have success.

Lukaku wasn't at the club when you won the Europa League and Ba and Torres are pretty crap when you compare them to your options elsewhere on the pitch. As for Kone, I could list a dozen or more strikers in the Premier league that are better yet they still won the FA Cup.

Not sure why my post has been taken so seriously though, I started off with Good strikers are for chumps" after all :D

YV, he seems to have some football (and tennis!) version of Tourettes, just thoughtlessly blurts out the first **** that comes into his head...usually rubbish!

Not sure it's either or. They might still get Higuain as well. Although I do wonder given the length of time it has run since the move was imminent.

I would love it if that move fell through. The rumours suggesting Real might offer him as part of a package for Bale suggests it might not be as done and dusted as everyone thought.

SSN have just reported a higher bid going in from the Goons, so they clearly haven't met the valuation, so the 'Bale+cash swap' to the Goons most bitter rival is just manouvering imo.

Jeez, that's a come down for an ex-England manager. Unless there's succession planning involved?

I was thinking the same. A way to lever an undoubtebly expensive Harry out the door and replace him with a cheaper version without having to pay out comp? Bit like the conspiracy theories surround JFK at the toon
