TuttoMercatoWeb claims that negotiations have unexpectedly advanced quickly and that Júlio César is now close to Roma. The Brazilian national team goalkeeper has previously been linked to Arsenal, but negotiations have stalled despite his intention of staying in London. Júlio César eventually admitted that he would not rule out a move to Italian football as he is knows the language and the league, also adding that Rome is a beautiful city. The goalkeeper shone in Brazil's 2-1 win against Uruguay for the Confederations Cup, and was elected the man of the match as he saved a penalty taken by Forlán. His future will most likely be decided after the competition is over, Brazil will face Spain or Italy in the final on Sunday.
Transfer talk: QPR’s Cesar linked with Sunderland Julio Cesar Julio Cesar Published on the26 June 2013 14:43 10 comments Email thisPrint this Sponsored by Sunderland Carpet Centre QPR keeper Julio Cesar could be a replacement for Simon Mignolet at Sunderland, according to reports in Italy. Mignolet completed his £11million move to Liverpool yesterday, with back-up Keiren Westwood expected to succeed him as first-choice Sunderland stopper next season. But there is speculation in Italy that Cesar could be a target for the Black Cats, with the 33-year-old expected to leave relegated QPR this summer. Roma were thought to be on the verge of sealing a move for the Brazilian, yet Sunderland have now been mooted as showing late interest in the former Inter Milan keeper. But Cesar is on a lucrative contract at Loftus Road, estimated to be in excess of £80,000 a week, which would be far in excess of anything Sunderland were willing to pay.
My favourite City in Europe (followed closely by Florence) Or the Geardie wanna be's..I know where i'd be. Good luck to him. One of the only players to emerge with any credit this season...
Who would want to go to a city that is famous for its falling down old relics of buildings? He'll go to Rome instead.
Please all take note about how we still use every opportunity to associate Cesar and Brazil with QPR ... to be honest it's sickening and exactly how teh club needs to change it's media ways. The bloke will never play for QPR again why? because we were relegated and can't afford him is the headline ... People at QPR treat fans like mugs sometimes Forget about Cesar unless of course we can explain him to stay and help us win the championship ... his place in Brazil's team looks safe anyway .. If I was at the club i would see that having Cesar at QPR in a World Cup season is well worth the wages just in PR alone ... maybe he would stay if people understood this. I hope QPR stick a massive fee on him and then keep him and sell the very nervous Green who will cost us at any level ... my betting will be 5 goals a season.
I agree with that - him staying with us and playing for Brazil in the WC finals would be great PR. He made a really good penalty save for Brazil yesterday too. Can't see him not performing either with a World Cup place on the line. Green will probably cost us.
Indeed. If the club's media people had any common sense they would avoid the continued association of the QPR name with players who are heading enthusiastically towards the exit. It looks pathetic.
Agree DT but if we keep him green has to go or his mind slips further into the sea of lost whimsey souls. So keeping Cesar means getting another keeper, Cesar is bound to get injured at some point and murphy is essentially untested.
It would be a great move, Julius Caesar returns to Roma, after 2100 years. He'll have to beware of the Ides of March though, and anyone named Brutus
