This is a table of all 84 Foreign (non-British & Irish Isles) Players from 43 different countries who have made at least one Premier League appearance for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League from season 1992-93 to 2012-13.

Foreign Players who were on Spurs books but only played in other competitions, or failed to make any first team appearances, are not included.

It seems sort of surprising that, considering what a footballing powerhouse it is, there are only five players from South America. And, Sandro aside, hardly stellar performers either.

And, rat-facery aside, you have got to love a bit of buying Croatian. 3/3's a decent hit rate. Portugal, on the other hand, is more like 1/4. God - no wonder at any major tournament I always assume, before I've even seen them play, that Portugal will look sort of good but basically be crap. Sort of just good enough to beat England but that's it. I did like Mendes, though.

I thought selling Medes was a mistake. He was pretty classy

Yeah, right. I can't remember, off the top of my head, what the story was. Did he have some injuries or something? Why did he not really bed down? Were there other player ahead of him at the time? My mind's gone blank! What was our midfield at the time? Jenas? Hudd? Oh - Carrick, who else? Anyway - it always seemed a shame he didn't get more playing time.

As a side note - I have absolutely no memory whatsoever of someone called Roger Nilsen playing for Spurs. Wikipedia tells me that he played three times in 1999 apparently. News to me.

Of course - the mighty Michael Brown was keeping him out of the team!

Simon Davies was pretty awesome* at this time too. So was our midfield Carrick and Davies? Seems, er, a bit lightweight.

Jesus Christ, though - look at that squad! What a pile of crap. Reckon on about 8-9 decent players there. God - the bad old days of wondering why on Earth Jonnie Jackson was getting another ten minute cameo or thinking that Rohan Ricketts looks like a decent player.

Urgh - I just looked at that squad list again.

*Relatively speaking.

It isn't great is it?

Although...
Naybet - was decent, but a little passed it. I think he helped King develop though.
Ziegler - had a good season as a teenager. Then lost it and got sold
Atouba - drag backs on his own goal line. I was only 23 but i was sure he'd end me with a heart attack.
Fat Andy Reid - still can't believe Dawson was the makeweight in that deal.
Davies - was quality, then lost it. Did he get a bad injury? We were supposedly fending off Utd for him at one point.
Rodrigo Defendi - best ever name for a defender. We need to sign his brother now...Gustavo NewStrikeri

Davies I'm pretty sure was hampered by pretty severe shin splints.

Ziegler was, and is now, a very solid player - disappointed we let him go.

Will always remember Atouba's goal vs Newcastle

Yeah Naybet was an astute signing like Gallas. Experienced with one or two years left that could a) do a job on the pitch b) pass on knowledge to others.

As for Andy Reid, god knows how that guy managed to play in the Prem for so long.

The Naughton and Walker deal was quite similar to the Reid/ Dawson if I remember rightly. Naughton was the one who we all knew a little about as being a potential England right back of the future yet it's Walker who's the one that's come on leaps and bounds. Think the fee was like £7m for the pair, £5m Naughton and £2m Walker! Crazy how things pan out some times.

I have it down at around £10m for the job lot with Naughton worth about £6m to Walker's £4m.

Despite last season i think Walker is now worth considerably more than that. Naughton might scrape £4m maybe? Regardless, as a pair it was a good deal monetarily for us i think

Probably right 6061, I was going by rough figures in my head that I remember reading on the Daily Mail website about 4 years ago <laugh>

And like Spurm just mentioned, Walker is definitely worth more despite his poor season. I'd say £12m. Would've been a lot more if he continued 2011/12's form.

I'd value Naughton around £4m-£5m.

KPB was technically German when he played for us - he didn't declare himself available for Ghana until he was at Pompey.

Also, technically RoI us "foreign" (based on the definition used by the Three Foreigners Rule) so that would mean Robbie Keane, Stephen Carr, Andy Reid, Stephen Kelly and Gary Doherty should be on the list

I was a fan of Mendes too, but he lost his place to Davids and Jol decided to offload him, Pamarot and Davis to Pompey to raise some cash.
