Nice of Spain to go off at the final whistle to give Tahiti their moment to soak up the occasion. The England team wouldn't have done that, far to egocentric.
I agree. He said as the player went off: Guess he couldn't take the pain. For all he knew the player had broken something...you can't estimate someone else's pain.
More Confederations Cup action this evening with arguably the most mouth watering tie of the competition so far; Italy v Brazil. Live coverage of that one gets underway at 7.30pm on BBC3. Japan v Mexico is the evening's other match. A contest with nothing more than pride a stake for both sides. Let's hope Lawrenson isn't too overtly negative for the sake of everyone's sanity! Please Lawro, just cheer up for f**k sake! Most football fans would kill to have your job!
I don't know whats worse, having to listen to Lawrenson co commentate or when they go back to the studio and Savage gives his expert opinion. Really looking forward to when Arry leaves QPR in about 2 months time and takes up the other pundit spot next to Savage
I read that the protests continue in Brazil. I can't blame them for a second. While Brazil [re]builds unfinished football stadiums the infrastructure in the poorer parts of the country declines further. It is even impacting upon the wealthier, so their noses are being put out of place too. Nevertheless, Brazil is a football mad country, so it is said by the rest of the World's sport media [so it must be true], even if many Brazilians have had enough. Of course, the tragic street urchins of Brazil are still completely forgotten. Often orphaned or badly abused by parents before running away to join new companions in the sewers, these kids actually manage to grow up and not automatically turn to crime, even though that is the earliest and easiest temptation to make life a little less than dreadful. If the protests do anything, I hope those little kids get some light shone on their plight.
"Montolivo, he's been excellent" [Montolivio gives ball away and Brazil nearly score] -------------- Why have Brazil and Italy swapped shorts?
I would presume to avoid an colour clashing. Even with normal shorts and socks there'd be large amounts of blue in both kits.
Lawrenson remarks there's never been a more aptly named player than Hulk because of his build. A player nicknamed Hulk because of his build.
